I'm new and Superman is one of my favorite superheroes.1) He's the gold standard, the original.
2) He's got all the power of a god, yet he doesn't try to play one. He knows his place in the universe and doesn't abuse his power. A real guardian angel type.
3) The man's humble to a fault. He's always there for his friends, and doesn't belittle anyone. He actually brings out the best in them, makes them feel special- Quote-
The Atom: I remember the first time I met Superman. It was a Justice League case so there were other heroes involved, but in my mind none of them stood as tall or as proudly as Superman. I began to wonder what I was doing in the same room as him, how little he must think of me. But Superman never treated me as anything but an equal. At six inches tall he made me feel like a giant. Now I had to be that giant for him.
4) He's the pillar holding up the League, the lynchpin of the DCU-Quote-
Batman: Flying out of the sky, he once again show us why he sets the standard for so many. Many see him as a naive boyscout whipped by his own selflessness. They will not, cannot, see him for what he is, a hero.
5) Clark's a source of inspiration for the entire superhero community, even Batman( refer above quote), and Wonder Woman-Quote-
Wonder Woman restraining and talking to Superman after he is transformed into Doomsday form by Circe
Wonder Woman: I won't let you give into your pain or guilt. The whole world needs you right now because of who you are and what you do. Because of what you mean to everyone. Because of what you mean to me. Just by being as good as you are.
Superman (changing back and crying): Diana...What have I done to you?
It's another matter that the character has suffered in recent years due to mishandling and half-baked writing. He needs to be written by someone who truly understands and loves the character.

Imo, Lelouch should have won season 1. It would have been cool to see him actually in charge of Japan for a while, like when he's in charge of his island but better.Yeah, L's defeat was very well handled. Its better in the anime where he knows whats going to happen but he can't do anything about it.
The sword of Damocles can suck my balls. Peace through fear is not peace at all.
Agree with these dudes, Kakashi's too boring.
I'm going back to Fullmetal Alchemist now. I'm about halfway through. It isn't as good as people say it is, though is that a case of Brotherhood being better? IDK.
I wish to have more backstory on the Empire. Looking on the wiki, I can conclude that they were struck with stupid when deciding it. Could have picked a far better backstory to it.
It is the only plausible form of peace good sir.
Favorite character in fiction would probably be... either Obi-Wan Kenobi or Han Solo.
I hate Superman for reasons that have been detailed previously in this very same thread.
@Nephthys: FullMetal Alchemist isn't a pure work of genius by any means, certainly not what its fans make it out to be. For the original run, the manga's definitely better. Brotherhood I've only seen a few episodes, and honestly it shot its own foot there because it tries to quickly recap half the first series in a few episodes before starting the new, manga-based material. As I understand, Brotherhood is generally considered the better anime of the two series.

The perfect character would have to be Commander Shepard.

Yeah, I still don't like Superman though lol.I probably hate Batman more than Supes.
Do you feel anything when you watch this scene? Just curious.
Originally posted by NephthysIt's kind of funny how he basically repeated himself with every point.
"Superman is the best because he's inspiring -provides in-universe informed ability to support point-.
Superman is admirable because if he wanted to he could pretty much butt**** the entire universe and rule it, but chooses not too.
However, that motif has grown old over the past 60 years. Superman's basically an obsolete character now. Every aspect of his character has been focused upon, storywise, and there's nothing fresh for him to do anymore.
Superman is never obsolete, he is the archetype of thousands and still the best of them. He has adapted for over 70 years and is still going strong today. How many people recognize the shield on his chest throughout the world?
At this point, he has transcended being just a simple fictional character. He's a symbol, a standard.
Originally posted by CosmicCometHow does that make him not obsolete? Being iconic does not mean not obsolete.

Hmmmm. I was also going to watch some of the Gundam stuff. Can you recommend a series (or tell me not to bother) by chance?
