Nothing stops you from using both styles, but you only specialize (i.e: get bonuses) in one. Human is indeed a viable choice for hunting. Spells include mostly support stuff and controlling plants/animals.

I don't know about king or emperor, though.

Hmm...how old do elven rangers get? Because I could see no reason to get bonuses for both if I have enough time. mmm

Why not?

Carver9 thinks Kid Goku is faster than light.

I'm sorry you guys.

You don't know the half of it 🙁

I learnt one thing from all this: DBZ abridged is win.

It is. That series is hilarious.

That, and Mr. Popo.

The cynic in me really wants to tear down TFS as being low brow humor.

But it really isn't thank god. There are plenty of low brow jokes but the series itself has some very good writing for the most part. Which pleases me.

In excess of 350 years, but in D&D skills are based on levels.

I'm explaining this poorly. Characters can get "feats," which are basically special abilities like catching arrows or something. Rangers can get a feat based on either archery or dual wielding for free, but nothing stops them from getting whichever feat their Ranger abilities didn't give them at a later time. Hopefully that helps.

TL;DR Yes you can.

Which tier does Ranger fall in? 😮

Dante quoting Dante. Sweet.

Bah. High Tier is for losers anyhow.

Ranger is in tier 4, which is to say 4th highest tier. At least in 3.5, which is the version we play.

That's actually about as high as non-caster classes can realistically expect to place.

Tier 1: Wizards, Clerics, and Druids. The classes are powerful, but above all, very versatile. The Clerics and Druids in particular are infamous for CoDZilla, named such because they can be strong casters while also replacing the fighters. While the Wizard cannot do this, it is arguably the better of the three, albeit requiring more maintainence. The Wizard is unparalleled in avoiding damage in unique ways not related to increasing shit like armour class, which is the best way to avoid damage, and can basically control the battlefield better than any other class.

Tier 2: Sorcerers, Psions, and Favoured Souls. These classes generally have as much power as the tier 1 classes, but are more restricted in their versatility.

Tier 3: Bards, Factotums, and Duskblades. Can do either one thing really well, or can do many things appreciably well.

Tier 4: Rogues, Barbarians, and Rangers. Basically can do one thing well but only that one thing, rogues are trap-killers and get a lot of skill points, as well as being general scouts. Barbarians are good tanks and melee fighters. Rangers are basically either good with a bow or dual-wielding, personally I would recommend the bow because a clever player can combine that with the spells they get with some prep-time to do stuff like ensnare enemies and slowing themw hile you take pot-shots from far away.

Tier 5: Fighters, Monks, and Paladins, who either do one thing and not all that well like the Fighter (Although I do know a few Fighter builds that can make it useful), or they are masters of none, like Monks and Paladins. Monks in particular are considered the worst core class, they suffer from Multiple Ability Dependency, meaning they need all stats to function, their abilities do not synergise, such as getting bonuses to movement speed but having a special attack that requires them to stand still, and many of their abilities, even at high level, can be replicated by a lower level caster. They suck, I guess is what I am saying.

Tier 6: This is for Joke characters. And the Samurai. And probably the Truenamer, which actually manages to get worse as it levels up.

You don't think Link is high tier in Brawl, do you Aura?

Sweet. I'll deal with with tier 4.

Last I checked he wasn't. But that has been forever ago.

Tier 4 is actually not a bad place to be at.

Even with Wizards and shit on your team, you can still be useful.

Meanwhile Max made me a Fighter, which means if I want to survive, I really have to work to do so. >=(

Shit, the ****ing Druid can summon animal companions that are better than me. Or just use Wild Shape and become better than me who can also cast spells.

**** Druids.

When it comes to D&D, I usually go Rogue or Ranger. I just find them a lot of fun to play.

Well considering I'm not likely to align myself with Maxie's group, I'll need buddies.

BR and DP will work. LOYS can tag along too I suppose, even with you know who in his name.

Actually, as an elven ranger, would I logically dress like Link? mmm

Why? Cause they're awesome or cause they're not overpowered? 😮

Shin is the same way.

I have thought about creating a Rogue or Ranger.

And by "Thought about" I mean I have yet to play more than one character but have created like 20.

Current character is a Sorcerer.

Well, I think they're pretty awesome. I like bows, so Rangers are great, and I also like the whole sneaky speed-over-brute-strength thing, so I like Rogues. My first D&D character was a Rogue, and that was 13 years ago.

Watching MSNBC's website right now. Bin Laden's dead, apparently.
