Woohoo, official off-topic thread!

At least he recognized How to Train Your Dragon as good.

But Lion King is much better. ๐Ÿ˜

Revan's really not that special of a character, but neither was KOTOR that amazing of a game. However, falling back on that is an incredibly cheap cop-out.

Hunger Games trailer was neat (I love the books) but I kinda wish it had actually showing something ๐Ÿ˜›

Yeah

This review is like, incredibly flawed and just plain bad.

To be fair, he made that review about 3 years ago.

This guy has been apparently hating on the film since he first saw it. The Lion King is old as stuff.

There's more.

YouTube video

Someone please make her shut up.

I gotta disagree Neph. The Incredibles review was not as bad as the Lion King one.

The Incredibles is incredibly cruel at times. Even when I was younger there were some parts where I was sad. But it was never a deal breaker for me. Hell, I loved the Land Before Time as a kid. So anything with a happy ending usually turns out nice and I didn't treat the Incredibles differently. Love that movie.

The Lion King review on the other hand was bad because he just didn't get Simba and the other characters. He is completely missing the points and that annoys me.

What are you guys even talking about?

Stuff.

His 'critique' of the movie is that the characters are put in crappy positions. Um, yeah? Thats how you do a freaking plot. Its called having obstacles for the heroes to overcome. You being sad over their plight and hoping they overcome it is a goooooood thing. Thats where dramatic tension comes from. Other than that he's just bitching that the movies too mature for kids, because it has death in it. Whatever.

He admits its just personal taste and thats all it is. Calling it a review is overindulgent.

Eh, some people are more weak willed than others. There is only so much depressing things people can take. Granted, Incredibles isn't exactly the saddest thing in the world.

Though I find it very funny that he hates Syndrome so much. Mr. Incredible was a douche to him and when you're hero basically hates you, it does some damage to your self esteem. Though him being the only character that deserved to die, nah.

And regardless, Dash is more of a ******* than Simba. Far more.

In my mind the Incredibles is like Batman TAS. Yeah its incredibly dark, yeah its not as wacky and joyful as other forms as childrens entertainment, but its still damn entertaining. They aren't primarily comedies, they're 'drama' for kids. The mature themes are handled extremely well and serve to increase the tension and eventual pay-off at the end. Children can handle mature themes. Hell, he liked How to Train your Dragon and that has ****in' Genocide in it!

I didn't think of Mr. Incredible as being a douche to him, nor did I see Dash as an *******, just slightly annoying. I agree with Matthew on those points at least.

EDIT: 'Dash is literally running for his life' 'They finally come together as a family..... by hurting people.'

OH **** YOU! If you want to watch a movie where superheroes fight crime with pixie dust and happy thoughts keep it to yourself ****face!

Genocide against dragons I guess but that was legitimate I suppose given the context.

U mad? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I just hate his self-righteous 'morality police' attitude. And how he objects to violence in an action, superhero movie.

'This movie is bad for kids.' Up yours bulgebouncer.

He does the same thing in his Kick-ass review. 'I don't like seeing an 11-year old get punched in teh face.' Um, yeah? Like, thats the point.

I absolutely hated the Lion King review and I think he was utterly moronic in it, but I can kind of see his one point about The Incredibles.

It's not just dark, it's continuously, oppressively dark. Even the jokes, for much of the movie, are very much black humor.

Personally, I don't mind that. In fact, I like it. The film was a wonderful deconstruction of the superhero genre. But it was marketed for kids, with Pixar's pedigree of being family-friendly and fun for all.

The difference between it and How To Train Your Dragon, I think, is that while HTTYD had mature themes and dark moments, it was peppered throughout with comic relief. Not just dark humor, but funny standard jokes. It didn't pile grim upon grim.

Eh...doesn't really bother me.

The only part in the Incredibles that struck me as too cruel was when that guy got mugged....Poor guy.

The Lion King review felt like a slap to my face. I wanted to go through the screen and punch the guy.

First of all, Simba being a douche as a kid. Dash getting a pass on this is kinda crap. Simba is, near as I can recall, and only child. So he's obviously going to get a lot of attention. He's also freaking royalty. The idea that things like that wouldn't make him somewhat of a douche is rather rude. Or hell, shall I point out the very obvious? He is a CAT. And cats are assholes. That's why I prefer cats to most other pets.

But even then, lying to his parents? Pfft. Kids do that, rambunctious royalty in movies does that. Getting into trouble? Scar clearly used reverse psychology to get Simba to the graveyard. Him acting like he was going to be a big shot when he's king? Normal kids do that. Nothing about his behavior seems unnecessarily bad.

It's because he failed to grasp the character of Simba that the film fell apart for him. Nothing more. And him calling Timon and Pumba evil might work....if they didn't just save a life. Who cares why they did it, they just saved a poor kid from dying. You can't hate these guys. They couldn't force Simba to stay, Simba stayed with them because he didn't want to go back. No other reason.

So who's all seen that there preview for Rock-'Em Sock-'Em Robots: The Movie?

Oh, my mistake, I meant "Real Steel". ๐Ÿ˜
