I still don't see how unicorns get such a bad rap. They're horses with lethal spikes jutting from their foreheads that they can and probably would use to gore people, and are sometimes portrayed to be able to cast incredibly destructive magic, or healing magic so potent you get your arm torn off and it's like "lolwut, fix'd"...so...wtf, guys? 😬

Maybe it's because they're mostly portrayed as peaceful, loving animals that appear mostly on products for little girls.

Originally, unicorns were portrayed as fierce beasts that could and would kill you because they were just so wild and crazy. However, it was said that only a virgin could tame a unicorn, and over time that gentler side of the story just overtook the original tales. It's mostly the association with virgins and/or young girls and the innocence/purity that is also associated with them that eventually became the peace loving gentle unicorns of today.
Basically like any other fairy tale.
