She's the sentience inside the sword in later games, lol.Basically, Fi is the sword, like how Ghirahim was, notice how much his final form looked like Fi? Besides, we were told before the game even came out that she is the master sword. Hence why it's so godamn T_T when she says "May we meet again in another life..."
But yeah, she/it, the sword, is powered by all three of the old goddesses and was forged by a fourth. Combine this with a direct statement from aLttP that it's a failsafe to the triforce, and it's feats through out the series and what do you get? Fi is the strongest Zelda character. Heh.
