90% of the story revolves around a Guardsmen regiment, for one thing. At about 175 pages into the story, the Alpha Legion is only mentioned two or three times. Throughout the entire book, you never get to see things from any of the Legion members' PoV's, it's always from the perspective of the people around them, we only learn the names of four members of the legion, two of which belong to the Primarch, and their personalities, mannerisms and general characters are never explored.

Basically, I don't know why the book is called "Legion", and I don't know how someone could say that book is "about" the Alpha Legion. They don't become at all relevant to the story until about 60 pages before the end, and the ending is completely rushed and vague, almost as if Abnett spent so much time focusing on the drama and sexual affairs of the Guardsmen members (seriously, a good portion of the guardsmen plot revolves around how the commanding officers are all women and are genetically super promiscuous and sleep with everyone), that he looked up at his calender and realized that he only had a week left to finish the book and he was only halfway done with it, or something.

All in all, if the book had been called "Geno-5-5" or something, as that's the name of the Guardsmen regiment, it would be passable. But to imply that the Alpha Legion is the main focus of the book is disingenuous.

As for the Thousand Sons. Well, if the book turns out to be bad, I will eat your eyes and the eyes of everyone on DakkaDakka, as it's pretty much the most highly regarded book in the series.

Interestingly that is why a lot of people like Legion. Because the Alpha Legion is still kept vague, mysterious, not elaborated on, etc. And a lot of people like how none of the book is really from Alpharius/Omegon's viewpoint, how their personalities are kept distant. Personally, I disagree with the assertion that that is preferable to the characterization of the Primarchs, because IMO one of the greatest themes of the series is that, for all the Primarchs were capable of, they were still human; humanity magnified. Same with the Marines. Prefer my Marines and Primarchs human.

Edit: Though yeah, Dan Abnett has a weird obsession of writing about hawt women ****ing his characters, like, to a noticeable extent.

I prefer Graham McNeil's homoeroticism myself.

Speaking of switching bodies, Neph, did you watch JLU's The Great Brain Robbery? Awesome ep.

Hell yeah. That episode kicks ass! That one, the final episodes with Darkseid and Patriot Act are pretty much the only 'great' episodes of season 2 imo. Though I liked the ep where Supergirl loses her powers but still continues to be a complete BAMF. Stargirl was right to be jealous, Supergirl is ****ing awesome.

If you could switch lives with another poster on here, who would it be and why?

No one. There's too much about myself I'd like to keep private, the switch implies they'd get a day in my body as well, and well, **** that.

Ten minutes into their life as me they'd already have seen the wreck that is my living space. That'd be enough, but there's more to it. Heh. I just wouldn't be comfortable with it.

If it was just to live a day as someone else, I'm not sure who I'd pick. Maybe Blax, Scenario, or Moo.

Why not me? ๐Ÿ™

You like Negima.

Shut up and go watch Escaflowne while you listen to your Avenged Sevenfold albums *****.

Escaflowne was alright. And the A7X song I like is a humourous one about necrophilia.

You should have brought up Fruits Basket if you wanted to make me look foolish. I did watch all of that. I did not however, do so willingly. haermm

Your lesbian ex made you watch Fruits Basket? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Edit

Edit as well, then. mmm

I feel bad about not watching JO's Fruit basket thing. i love JO, but I just give no shits about Fruit Basket. ๐Ÿ™

Is it good? Also, is Escaflowne good?

Nope. It's awful.

Then I don't feel as bad about skipping it. I'd only be listening to it for JesuOtaku's sweet, smexy voice anyhow.

She has a southern accent. xD
