Legion left a bad taste in my mouth. I can't find a good copy of salamander, so I'm bouncing back to Fulgrim. Beyond that, thousand sons is my last hope for good 40k fluff.

Unless anyone has some reccommendations.

As for soul caliburs story... It hasnt been good since sc2 imo

Which is a shame, because the latest mk had a very satisfying story.

I haven't read Legion. Why was it bad?

And if you don't like A Thousand Sons you should just stop reading in general, because clearly then the problem is your incredibly bad taste, not what you are reading.

As previously mentioned, seeing Megadeth live today.

Wearing a Metallica shirt, as is Matt. Will post results. haermm

So yeah... I'll get this new SC... eventually but since everything after SC2 hasn't been as good as SC2 was, I haven't had much reason to be excited. As long as the engine is good, the game is fun and balanced, then I probably won't give a single care about the story since it's NEVER been good. Even when Soul Blade was around.

Matter of opinion on the story, there.

I think SCIII was the height of the series, personally.

I get the feeling that I could beat most people who post in this thread in the majority of fighting games.

Cyner is the one I am not sure about.

Don't know how many fighting series you play regularly exactly, but if you play more than me, then chances are you would beat me in most games, but I tend to play more than most people I know, which I guess isn't saying much, but it's still quite a bit. Fighting's prolly my favorite genre that I would like to play more of, but with most of my friends being shooter fanatics who mostly only play fighters casually (if at all), I often don't feel challenged enough when playing them.

On that note, I prolly need moar people like Cyner to play with who push me to my limits that aren't just random spammers like most you'd see online. Then I'd be a lot better than I am now, but I hate playing with randoms more often than not.

Story mode was never anything but something to rush through real fast to get the hang of the controls before challenging friends.

Only if you're that kind of person. Some fighting stories/campaigns actually have replay value, but that doesn't seem to be the case with SCV's, so I'd only play it once.

"It's a fighting game" isn't excuse for a shitty story mode.

I'm sick of people using that as an excuse personally.

With the incredibly beautiful engine SCV has, it perplexes me why they didn't take complete advantage of it with fullblown cutscenes and whatnot throughout the story, instead of having mostly still images, a really amateurish way of storytelling in games of this day and age. And the cutscenes they do have are so far in between, making them kinda forgettable.

Didn't know about Zasalamel not being in SCV until now ironically, but that just breaks my heart. Don't give two shits if someone new has his fighting style. He was still awesome and my main man.

I might get the complete/game of the year edition or something that has all the DLC, or get the regular sometime before that when I eventually have nothing else to look forward to playing. With the amount of stuff I like that they took out though, it's not worth the full $60 to me. Maybe $30 or 40, but not 60.

Pretty much agree, but at least when Soul Blade was around it was forgivable. Whoever wrote the script for the dialogue in SCV's story should be shot.

As for balance, I've heard from most that guys like Nightmare are even cheaper than they were in SCIV, but I'll wait till playing before judging that myself.

I hated how slow SC3 was, it was painful

I don't know about him as a player-controlled character, but when you play Arcade even on Easy difficulty he'll stun-lock you, read your inputs, guard impact your best attacks perfectly, and execute flawless combos faster than a human can, every single time. There's a particular set of attacks the AI likes to chain that take about 60% of your health bar and is unblockable after the first hit lands.

I hate Nightmare.

But then again I always hate the "heavy" characters like that.

I love heavy characters.

For I am pretty heavy. haermm

90% of the story revolves around a Guardsmen regiment, for one thing. At about 175 pages into the story, the Alpha Legion is only mentioned two or three times. Throughout the entire book, you never get to see things from any of the Legion members' PoV's, it's always from the perspective of the people around them, we only learn the names of four members of the legion, two of which belong to the Primarch, and their personalities, mannerisms and general characters are never explored.

Basically, I don't know why the book is called "Legion", and I don't know how someone could say that book is "about" the Alpha Legion. They don't become at all relevant to the story until about 60 pages before the end, and the ending is completely rushed and vague, almost as if Abnett spent so much time focusing on the drama and sexual affairs of the Guardsmen members (seriously, a good portion of the guardsmen plot revolves around how the commanding officers are all women and are genetically super promiscuous and sleep with everyone), that he looked up at his calender and realized that he only had a week left to finish the book and he was only halfway done with it, or something.

All in all, if the book had been called "Geno-5-5" or something, as that's the name of the Guardsmen regiment, it would be passable. But to imply that the Alpha Legion is the main focus of the book is disingenuous.

As for the Thousand Sons. Well, if the book turns out to be bad, I will eat your eyes and the eyes of everyone on DakkaDakka, as it's pretty much the most highly regarded book in the series.

Sounds like the kind of Nightmare and Algol I would face from the Tower of Lost Souls in IV. ๐Ÿ˜˜ But yeah, was mainly referring to a human controlled Nightmare and such, which can still be pretty cheap online if used right and all that, even though it obviously won't be to the same extreme as the AI one there. Not to mention, online spammers love those long range type of heavy hitters. Even if you beat 'em, facing those kind of players gets pretty old after awhile, as it did for me in IV.

If you could switch lives with another poster on here, who would it be and why?

If we switch bodies, then EA, so that I could have lesbian sex. awesome_xj9

I can't pick Peach because then I'd be cheating on GK, and I'm just not that kind of girl.

If we just switch lives, then no-one. All your lives are terrible.

You switch bodies with them for a day.

Then bring on the gurl power.

Swap with Paste for a day. I'd be completely immune to poison and most forms of bodily injury. Super heroics. For the win.

You saying you don't already have that? O:

It would be none of the other posters, because I wouldn't want to switch lives with anyone short of a superpowered being. sneer

Speaking of switching bodies, Neph, did you watch JLU's The Great Brain Robbery? Awesome ep.
