That really doesn't sound like a rape joke at all. It sounds like a BDSM joke.It isn't any worse than women flirting with police officers by saying they've been a bad girl and should be handcuffed.

There is a huge, huge difference between "you should do this to me" and "I will do this to you." If you can't see that, then there's no helping you.
It sounds like a rape joke. Because it is one. Saying it sounds like anything else is just being willfully obtuse.
Originally posted by PeachNo no, I agree with you. It's perfectly fine for women to make naughty jokes towards men, wheras any man who makes naughty jokes towards women is a scumbag. BDSM and rape are the exact same thing. We're on the same page here, Lana.

Human beings in general have been brutally murdered by other human beings since the dawn of time. Does that mean that every time you make a joke or a figure of speech about killing someone, you are therefore a scumbag?
The next time I'm playing a video game with someone, and they say they're going to "whoop my ass", should I get butthurt and think they're a scumbag because my ancestors were "whipped" by white people for centuries?
Are you a scumbag because you made jokes about raping me while I'm asleep in the star wars vs. forum last week? After all, men have been getting brutally oppressed and raped by other men, mostly in prison, for centuries.
Hurdurr. Of course not. Jokes and figures of speech are just that, jokes and figures of speech.
Furthermore, rape jokes and sex jokes are not the same thing. There's a difference between hitting on someone and threatening them.
I can see how making a rape joke to a rape vicyim or someone who knows a rape victon would be uncool, but the idea that it's perfectly fine for women to make sex jokes toward men but men can't do it back because women get raped a lot is insane. By that logic, no one should ever joke about anything, since all groups of people have been victimized at one point or another.

TBF, women do have a right to be more sensitive about this sort of thing. After millennia of oppression and sexual assualt. And its not like theres gender equality on this subject atm. Infinately more women get raped then men. Thats why this is such an uncomfortable topic.
The notion that someone's feelings on a matter is more relevant than another's due to precedence of it being inflicted on those like them, not them, is idiotic. If I make a sexual comment towards a guy (It's been known to happen 131), a vaguely rapey comment, and they are bothered by it, am I going to consider their protest any less than I would a woman? No, because I'm a ****ing genius, and would abstain from them regardless of gender. People tend to confuse "equality" with "special rights".
Oh, before I forget...

Of course not. Murder is far too universal for that to happen. Theres no group to feel victimised because no one group is the target of murder, its the whole human race.

Slavery has been abolished for centuries. Its simply not the same situation as rape, something which women have to live with as a reality of something that honestly could occur to them.

No, because that is circumstantial. Neither of us are prison inmates, so rape isn't even a factor in our lives.

If its no big deal to you then stop making it one.

Agreed. Although I can see how in this case those two could be taken to be the same thing.

You can try to make as many logical arguments as you want but none of them have the slightest amount of relevence. This isn't about logic, it's about emotion. All I know is that 2 women have expressed discomfort with jokes of this nature and a bunch of guys have said that its no big deal and told them to stop complaining. Doesn't that seem a little awkward to you? It does to me.
In the end:
People don't get offended by murder jokes.
People don't get offended by the phase 'I'll whoop you.'
Men don't get offended by rape jokes.
Women do.
It's just the facts. Trying to argue rationally that they shouldn't is like trying to **** a hedgehog. In the end it won't work and your dick will get torn to shit. So just don't try to do something tht you have no hope of achieving.

As I've explained, no-one is 'victimised' by murder, except murder victims and their families. It's far too universal a crime for that, so no-one feels like a potential victim or anything similiar when it's brought up. As much as Blax rightly brought up Prison Rape, rape in general is still 'a thing that happens to women.'
It might be idiotic, but no-one says that taking offense to something factors intelligence into the equation.
