Oh Neph, did you just not-so-subtly imply that women are irrational, emotional, illogical banshees?

Humans are irrational, emotional, illogical banshees.

But are women more so than men?

Hell no.

This just happens to be an issue thats more to do with women. Just like penis size is more to do with men. And we all know how irrational men get over that.

I don't know what you're talking about. My penis is quite above average in size AND girth, thank you very much.

EDIT: Sorry about that. I was just feeling a little vulnerable when you mentioned penis size. Anyway, shouldn't we be rational, logical and cool-headed about both rape jokes and penis size? Also about things like genocide, politics, war, 9/11, etc.? But it's hard, isn't it?

You sure? You know they've changed the average now.

Exactly my point. You can rationally tell people not to freak out about those things, but its simply impossible. You can't control something like that. Which is why telling someone not to isn't going to solve the problem. They'll still be offended no matter what you say.

And now I am a hypocrite.

(well technically this is more making fun of the people who got offended by penny archade more than rape, so maybe not)

Certainly. I just won't be able to take their offense seriously in that case.

Sure, but you can't exactly say that in this case theres no right to be offended.

Oh, you have a right to be offended by anything. I'm offended by Teletubbies, for example.

[edited for unbearable condescension]

And thats different from your normal posts how exactly?

As I've explained, no-one is 'victimised' by murder, except murder victims and their families. It's far too universal a crime for that, so no-one feels like a potential victim or anything similiar when it's brought up. As much as Blax rightly brought up Prison Rape, rape in general is still 'a thing that happens to women.'

It might be idiotic, but no-one says that taking offense to something factors intelligence into the equation.

You can't comprehend what you read.

My issue was that you believe that any given woman has more "right" to be offended by something (Rape in this case) than any given man.

[B]Of course not. Murder is far too universal for that to happen. Theres no group to feel victimised because no one group is the target of murder, its the whole human race.
No specific group is the target of rape, either. It happens to both genders on, literally, a daily basis. What's your point?

Slavery has been abolished for centuries.
Rape has been illegal longer than slavery has. Please don.t say stupid things.
Its simply not the same situation as rape, something which women have to live with as a reality of something that honestly could occur to them.
Are you seriously trying to say that black people aren't discriminated against and oppressed on a daily basis? LOL

No, because that is circumstantial. Neither of us are prison inmates, so rape isn't even a factor in our lives.
So it's okay to joke about rape so long as neither persons have been raped. That's terrible logic.

Agreed. Although I can see how in this case those two could be taken to be the same thing
The only people who would think that are people who don't understand basic English.

You can try to make as many logical arguments as you want but none of them have the slightest amount of relevance. This isn't about logic, it's about emotion
You don't need to tell me that your argument is nonsensical and based off of nothing but your own feelings on the matter. I can figure that out just by reading that.

All I know is that 2 women have expressed discomfort with jokes of this nature and a bunch of guys have said that its no big deal and told them to stop complaining. Doesn't that seem a little awkward to you? It does to me.
This is a huge knee jerking strawman. You obviously have no idea what anyone in this thread has been saying on either side of the board.

People don't get offended by murder jokes.
Many people do. But you don't care about that unless they're women.

People don't get offended by the phase 'I'll whoop you.'
Many people do. But you don't care about that unless they're women.

Men don't get offended by rape jokes.
Many of them do. Especially those who have been raped. But you don't care about that unless they're women.

Women do.
Many of them don't. I know several of them personally.

This is an ironic discussion because you're basically arguing that women deserve special treatment because they are irrational, illogical, and overly-emotional. That's really empowering for females. 👆

Seems like, nowadays, guys are stingy for a simple apology to a girl and prefer to utilize their highly intellectual rationality instead.

And with that, I'm done with this conversation. I cannot continue it. There's a very good reason why.
