Working at a con = volunteer work. You don't get paid for it.
However, you have my condolences.
I'd trade you that and being mad at otaku's w/o pay over this.
I can honestly say that because of this experience I now know what true hatred feels like: I'm dreading tommorw.
Thanks

You work AX? What department? Or do you do Artist Alley?
Indirectly, I work for a cosplay group who volunteers hospital visits to kids, but we get paid if we agree to chaperone a small field trip with a few kids and their guardians in costume.

Either way, damn, I feel sorry for you. I did seven years of staffing at Anime Central before our department got hit by con politics and we all up and quit. Things were rather a shambles this year as a result 😛
A few of my buds do work the staff their, I hear that alot too.
This just about brought me to the verge of tears...
I am not allowed to post links, it was link to ign's top 25 ps3 games, with mgs4 at number 18.
18th... 18TH!!!
How the hell does the greatest game ever, let alone PS3 title, get ranked number 19th PS3 game of all time behind so many mediocre titles... its kinf of disrespectful to someone of Kojima's genius and talent that its even considered arguable that his games are te greatest of all time. I found it really sad reading in an interview that Kojima was actually honoured that two of his games (MGS 1 and 2) made it into the Smithsonian Arts Exhibition... ALL 4 OF THEM SHOULD HAVE MADE IT IN WITH ABSOLUTE EASE, AND SHOULD HAVE ALL BEEN THE DEINING EXHIBITION! Freaking Brutal Legend made it in over MGS4. BRUTAL LEGEND!!
Nostalgia Critic and Angry Joe need to do a review together soon. DOOM anyone?

MGS hayters are the very WORST of all the gamers. How is it "overwought" as you put it? It is complicated but not so much that you cannot understand it or that it stops being entertaining. In fact it is perfect level of complicated.
As far as quality is concerned MGS quite simply transcends gaming. It makes other top games look kinda shit by comparison to be honest...
Bro, stop being a player hayter. What you are trying to do is make the game sound silly by pointing out a single random thing and protrarying it in a negative light, when it really isn't that bad, especially in context.
spoiler for MGS3:
Spoiler:
If you had played MGS3 you would also know that Ocelot was son of The Sorrow who could communicate with the dead and so it was possible that he could have had the trait passed one, manifesting with liquid taking over his personality due to the fact that a remnant of his body was actually attched to Ocelot
So it was actually quite an interesting development that makes compelte sense when taking MGS3 into account.
Naturally as well you will focus on all the "over the top" or "bizarre" or "quirky" stuff that you'll always going to find in japanese anime and media, that isnt even ebcessarily badm and ignore all the good stuff such as the amazing voice acting, writing, drama, plot twists, cinematography and actions, interesting characters and unique ideas etc that the series is filled with.
And that is all because you is a Hayter. the worst kind.
Wow, really? I f*cking love MGS, but the plot is just f*cking stupid as shit. Maybe it isn't overly confusing for the sake of being overly confusing, but I just can't pay attention to the whole storyline because it bores me. I play it for the gameplay that keeps me coming back for more. Been playing it since the early days when it first came out. Easily understandable how it came in 18th. It was a hell of a game, but damn story left a bad taste in the mouth.

Bro...
Now that you have read spoiler I wills top using tags. The idea that his personality would actually be taken over by the owner of the transplanetd arm he was using was actually a very awesome twist on his father's psychic powers of being able to communicate with the dead, if ocelot were to partially inherit them. Just think, the power usually is about beign able to communicate with the dead, but the bond of acyually sharing a limb together was so storng that it wrnt a step further and enabled the dead person to actually take control over his body. That is pretty awesome twist in my book, and no amount of sarcasm on your part will changed it.

Probably has more to do with your mindset going into the game and maybe you weren't prepared or willing to play such a story driven game. Which is problem with YOU not the game. The story is not stupid it deep and complicated with a very clear focus and awesome drama and characters and some very unique ideas. How exactly was it stupid? It has certain quirks, sure, that is not bad thing, the games are actually filled with a lot of really great humour.
Easily understandable how it came in 18th.
This is a ridiculous statement. You would be one of very few people to feel this way, believe me bro.

No, no. People who spell 'hater' as 'hayter' are the worst. Yeah, it's complicated... complicated in perhaps the worst possible way.
Transcends gaming, you say? MGS, if it was a movie, for example, would be laughed out of any even half-decent film festival.
How is it my problem when the game does a good job of overly complicating things? Granted, story-wise MGS (PS1) and MGS 4 had the best in-game events, but MGS 3 sucked balls. I'm not the only one who thought this. It gets stupid with the whole idea of, again, overly complicating things so that people who do think they get it I guess feel really good about themselves cuz they prolly think they're smart. Maybe I just like my games alittle more streamlined and to the point, not to where they become a cliche, cuz there aren't any of those in MGS already, heh. If they were to can the cloning crap and dealt with just espionage and conspiracies, it'd be a better game imo, but we got what we got. Doing stealth kills and choking mo'fos and taking out big ass mechs is what keeps me coming back.
I feel the same way for Kingdom Hearts, I love the gameplay, summons and boss battle, but f*ck it's storyline.

What you are doing, bro, is taking the lazy approach of implying that just because it is a game it would never make it as a movie, because we all know you have nto put any real thoughts into this statement.
Fact: the production values of the games are easily movie like in quality. You have Harry Gregson William, one of the top composers in the movie industry, working on the soundtrack of the game, and its probably his best work he's ever done. You have the very best voice actors in the business playing the different characters (on a pure voice basis these guys are usually better than most major movie actors as it is their speciality as voice actors). The action scenes in the games, of which I can post many examples of, are easily of the calibre of a major blockbuster action flick. And just about everything in its production is of the calibre of a movie.
As for the scripts, its EASILY better than 99% of those you find in movies. As far as speculative fiction goes it has better, more interesting and more innovating concepts than pretty much any science fiction film out there (the concept of Metal Gear, which is probably one of the most horrifying weapons ever conceived and its implications on the nuclear deterrance theory, the ideal of Outer Heavevn, the numerous unique characters with their unique ideologies and unique abilities etc.).
Try harder to to be a hayter bro.
Edit - I'd rate MGS above stuff like LotR, Star Wars, and The Matrix. Tell me your favorite movie bro and I'm willing to bet that MGS has far better cinematic quality then it.
