Everyone knows MLP's greatest attraction is its shock value, like all memes.

It's a hipster thing. "hurrr this show's targeted toward little girls and I'm a guy watching it isn't that ironic?"

The fact that its mass popularity has shrunk over time is testament to the fact that once people stopped giving a shit about grown men liking a show about pony-girls, it lost some of its appeal. Whether the show itself is actually good or not doesn't really factor into the equation a whole lot. There are a lot of really good shows out there, but you don't see most of them having the viral/meme level popularity that you see with Bronies.

Oh Nemesis, you are such a silly foal. Celestia does not reward ponies for holding the Idiot Ball intentionally.

You have a fair point, and I am sure there are those out there who do use the gender dissonance push things over the top, else it would not be as things are now. That does not mean that all bronies are like that. There is likely a dichotomy between casual enjoyment, hardcore "bronyism", and genuine empathy.

Edit: Case in point. Thank you for providing an example, Nemesis.

Well, fyi, MLP is probably less "popular" right now because Season 2 has ended and 3 has yet to start up again, of course the fandom's going to be more inactive.

But, in any case, even if the series were to end, the Brony fandom will remain on the internet indefinitely, since the series has too many hardcore fans that invest serious time into the show.

Like Touhou.

The only thing I know about Touhou is that theres a shitton of porn about it.

So yeah, its pretty similar to MLP. awepeach

I'm not really capable of giving ****s about gender dissonance or shit like that, it's just a good show that makes me happy.

Which seems to induce a crippling, life ruining addiction on it's fans. 😐

"I can describe an axe entering a human skull in great explicit detail and no one will blink twice at it. I provide a similar description, just as detailed, of a penis entering a vagina, and I get letters about it and people swearing off," he said.

"To my mind this is kind of frustrating, it's madness. Ultimately, in the history of [the] world, penises entering vaginas have given a lot of people a lot of pleasure; axes entering skulls, well, not so much."

Penises entering vaginas >>>> Axes entering skulls.

Lord Martin has spoken!

Where does the Mountain that Writes stand on the subject of penises entering skulls?

Like, through the mouth?

I think he's for it.

I was aiming for the temple, or if you're persistent, right through the forehead personally.

Maybe ear if you're a pussy.

Yeah no, I don't think so.

That doesn't answer my question.

I don't think he's into that kind of thing.

Obviously that punk-***** writer has never actually buried an axe in someone's skull before.

It's quite a pleasurable experience. I've achieved physical nirvana many times while embedding my cold steel in some sap's frontal lobe.

Poser.
