With her breasts attached she had a confirmed 85% chance of getting breast cancer.

I can understand not wanting to wait until after you get cancer to chop off your boobs in that case. Especially when modern science allows you to replace them with almost real things.

Edit- She wrote and published a 1-2 page essay explaining her reasoning in depth. It's actually a pretty good read. I like Angelina Jolie, her lack of sex appeal and decent roles withstanding.
