Surprised I didn't see this sooner but it's spot on about my feelings on the God of War series.

Video is terrible so far, and entirely ignores why he threw himself into the sea. He didn't do it because he REALISED WHAT A TERRIBLE PERSON HE WAS, he did it for a far more selfish reason: The gods would not take the memories of what he did away. Even at the end of 1, he could not admit what he did was his fault, and indeed, the wording implies that he realizes the horrible nature of his actions in general. Only Kratos does not regret being an unrepentant mass-murderer (Indeed, he wouldn't be unrepentant then), he only cares that the memories of what he did haunt him, not as much that he did in fact do them. He didn't want "redemption", he wanted to forget. For a character touted as the ultimate badass, it is actually a pretty cowardly solution to clamor for.
No seriously, continuing to watch this video, it is hilarious how off they are. "Oh, he's so sad that he committed deicide and left innocent dead in his wake..."
No he isn't, lol.
The video subscribes to the idiotic idea that for a character to be good, or "meaningful" to use his prissy fairyboy vocabulary, they must be relatable, or even likable.
No they don't. Caim in Drakengard was a torrent of violence and sociopathic insanity that Kratos could only dream of being, and yet this was such a unique and interesting take on a JRPG protagonist that his character was all the better for it.
What of American Psycho? A profoundly two-dimensional, shallow serial killer.
Kratos is an evil character, and the series treats the bulk of his actions as in the wrong. And this is good.
Also, the first-person thing was just to give you a better look at Kratos punching faces in.
