You fucking biggot. You're the one who's linking the words to disabled people. Retard just means slow. Nowhere in the definition does it even mention disabled people.

Like a fire retardant materials resist flames so slow the burning process.

You're the one who's disgusting with your tying the disabled to the term.

Hypocritical biggot. 😠

It's true retard does mean slow, infact, retarder is French for being late or delay!

Désolé pour être en retard Monsieur j'allais à la toilette

Afflicted to be late Mister I went to the toilet

Close -- "Sorry for being late Sir I was going to the toilet"

I'd just like to ask why all the Americans on this forum use 'Retarded' as an insult. People with Learning Dificulties did not choose this, why make fun of them? It's pretty disgusting, I think.

Basically, I'd like to ask if you actually hate or have a problem with people who have a Learning Dificulty.

Wow, what an incredibly stupid post. I have dyslexia, whish is a learning disability. I've heard that the average dyslexic supposedly (I have no numbers to back the claim up) scores higher on I.Q. test then the average non-dyslexic. I have a few University degrees and college diplomas, so it hasn't really hindered me much at all.

I have never heard anyone equate such a learning disability with retardation.

I think you have no clue about waht you speak.

No, in Britain LD is the PC name for MR. Trust me I'm from the UK.

Wow, your being from the U.K. means absolutlely nothing. You sorely have misunderstood the situation or application of the phrase and it's context.

I have dyslexia which is a learning difficulty and I just missed 7 months of school so I'm seriously behind... life sucks!

Did you miss 7 months of school because of your dyslexia?

Sorry, but I hate it when people use dyslexia as a crutch. All it takes is a little hard work and you can not only manage, but excel.

Learning disabilities are not known as mental retardation

there are certain disabilities one might experience in learning if someone does have mental retardation, however, they are different terms

Damnit not you again.

LISTEN; I am telling what the equivelent of 'Retardaton' is in the UK. I actually got it wrong; the phrase is 'Learning Difficulties', so you are sort of right. It is not a disabilty. Stop calling me a bigot (only one 't', moron), because a bigot is someone who discriminates because of what somebody is. Getting a word wrong is not a viable excuse for calling somebody a bigot.

No it isn't, any moron who belives that has to learn the basic differneces between both. It's not 'Politicial correctness' it's just your dumb enough to belive this bullcrap.

I am mad that people would call someone retraded that is all.jm

No it isn't.

I work with people with learning difficulties and it is not, and never has been, equivalent to the old use of 'retardation'.

You got it more wrong than you think.

/sigh

retarded is a psychiatric term to describe very specific conditions that people might have

sorry if it offends you, but to be honest, its a little like being offended by saying someone has cancer.

but hey, yay PC nonsense
