ELITE Headquarters and Stuff!

I also have to say that from what I've seen , DC telepathy has been a huge disappointment. Marvel telepaths seem to be a lot more skilled and creative when it comes to the use of their powers. With exception of Doc Psycho smile

Marvel TP seems a lot more sophisticated, than DC one, though maybe not as powerful. But again, given the TP-inhibiting abilities of Marvel Earth...Marvel telepaths work in "higher gravity" compared to DC ones.
I bet that if the best telepaths from MU come to the DC Earth, where nobody f*cked Earth's magnetic field to inhibite TP, they would be pretty high in food chain.

Exactly.

I mean, take a look at the Xavier the exiles met, he killed an entire city with one tp blast.

You're right. Marvel's finest telepaths in general work more sophisticated that DC ones...though DC tends to give their characters huge powersets...for example, J'onn is able to use his shapeshifting powers to amplify his TP.

agreed

For example, J'onn stretched his nervous system enormously once (and was looking like friggin' agava in that state) to be able to scan the entire Earth quickly.

Yeah, although I think that's just weird and shouldn't affect his telepathy at all. I suppose Marvel and DC handle telepathy differently. As well as technology I suppose :/

It affected the speed of perceiving the information, that's why it was handy. In MU Reed Richards (both 616 and Ultimate version) also used to stretch his brain for the same purposes. In weird X4 crossover Reed used it to help Emma as a "second pilot" of Cerebra...that was weird, really weird.

It's common trend in comics, both Marvel and DC.

Another thing worth mentioning is that there are almost no expert astral plane combatants among DC psionics.

And the only explanation for the "agava trick" was "speeding up the perceiving of information" purposes, which is used by both DC and Marvel (like dual core processor to the computer). Because after that J'onn has scanned the globe without any weird transformations.

Is there even an astral plane in the DC universe?

His "darker side" seemed not to be that...alien. I bet Martian Manhunter's subconsciousness is a lot more alien...especially given the fact Superman was brought up in HUMAN culture.

i wasn't talking about his darker side, more about the ways his subconscious could be altered...

whether he was raised as a human or not, his brain chemistry is still different... 😬

look at it this way: imagine you're a telepath right? you spend all your life training, and you become a master at your craft, being able to take on almost any being you come up against...

then you meet someone who's mind is unfamiliar to you... its going to take time to learn the ins and outs of it isnt it?

i just don't believe that telepathy is a blanket ability in the way that, a person could be an expert at reading human minds, then they're automatically going to be able to waltz into a martian or kryptonian mind and do as they please easily without taking the time to explore it...

not saying you do, just saying i don't...

as far as DC telepaths go, there are few of them, DC seems to give magic more attention than it does telepathy...

black and j'onn though are incredibly proficient, and imo the equal of the likes of xavier and emma, if not superior...

ask martian, i'm not sure... 😖

btw, evenin all...

John is without doubt stronger than Emma when it comes in terms of raw strength. I only think he's barely stronger than Xavier though.

i'd agree with that... though i think j'onn is as accomplished with the subtle stuff as emma...

J'onn is definetely stronger than Emma in terms of raw psi-power and as for Xavier...he's also his superior, but not by huge margin. Those thousands of years of inherited experience of whole Manhunters Corps of Mars didn't give to J'onn any creativity...on the contrary, he lives on ready-made solutions most of the time.
Manchester Black also seems to be Xavier-level or stronger... Both of them are top tier.

And as for astral plane...such realms in DC are mystical domain, non the psionic's one.

I pity the foo' who thinks John Johnson is as skilled as Emma when it comes to doing le zomg tingies with Telepathy.

I'd actually quite like to see the dialogue in a Manchester Black-Emma Frost confrontation.

J'onn is pwnful sure, but he has such a huge powerset that I can understand if he isn't always that creative with his telepathy.
