And he usually will.

Upset victories are one thing, making odds is another. The guy whose name is on the cover is going to pull off "upsets" on a regular basis because nobody wants to read a book about a Man of Steel picking up speeders and jay-walkers month after month. That's what PIS/jobber-auras and SvF upsets are all about. The guy who's name is on the cover has to win most of the time, and it's more fun when it's (seemingly) against all odds. The cognitive dissonance of "beating the odds" most of the time is just one of the things you accept in order to enjoy the story.

In this context however, we're trying to give each character a more even shot. Characters are supposed to fight to the best of their abilities rather than loose just because the plot demands it. CIS (like Supes not opening up each and every battle with a speedblitz) is valid, since that's how the character behaves being true to his or her personality and thoughts.

I wonder as well. Got any idea what SBP was talking about when he asked Sinestro about getting what he wants? Sinestro just answered by saying we all get what we want.

My bet's on Soldam Yat. A Daxamite with a power ring, that's just too awesome.

not for a couple of months anyways... it runs as far as GL #24, possibly beyond...

my guess is that he wants to be earth's superman... basically finish the job he and alex started...

that was some shot to save arisia (sp?) in the last issue...

i feel as though things have changed as regards to darkseid power level in general and the way in which they battle each other meaning darkseid and superman has changed to. supes has beaten him badly and to many times whereas in the past supes was easily dismissed. times they are a changin'.

I don't know why DC would make Darkseid the main bad guy in countdown if superman alone can take him...

that is unless he's taking on a thanos-esque role, merely pulling the strings to see what happens without ever getting his hands dirty...

By Kyle after Hal and the GLC conivince him to turn back good.

Ya know that may be the case. Darkseid could just be sitting back and waiting.

I'd say no to sundipped Supes by himself. His top-end move was moving a planet, which SBP seens to do with less effort (although warworld had engines).

Even without a sun dip, that's nowhere near Superman's best feat.

Ok,

Earth's gone to hell, and the Sinestro Corps has all but taken over, with only a few heroes as the last line of defence...

Superboy Prime strolls through the Titans, and comes to face with the big boys...

Superman stands before him, as sundipped as his body will allow... he has to take down Superboy Prime or the world is done for... how many of the following people will he need, or does he need any/all of them? and how can they take down prime?

Martian Manhunter
Wonder Woman
Captain Marvel
Hourman
Liberty Belle
Powergirl
Supergirl
Mary Marvel (circa Countdown)

As before,

Match 1: Comic PIS...
Match 2: Bloodlust...

That phrase alone guarantees Superman's victory. Since there is no limit to Superman's absorption..he's essentially Superman Prime for this fight.

i like how u put that. taking on a thanos-esque type role. the difference is thanos can throw down when he has to while darkseid gets his head pounded in from time to time.

😂

Ok, i'm bumping this for a good reason (well at least i think it is), because after reading back over IC i spotted something...

i'm just going to explain why i think Prime is at best, a slightly more powerful superman... and with his suit, pretty much a more powerful (but not to a huge extent) sundipped superman...

here goes:

In IC #6, just after Prime Returns, he has the following conversation with Alex:

and we learn that Prime had been imprisoned under a red sun for several years...

Now: How do we know that all that exposure to Red Sun didnt permanently change/reduce his powers? if he was so powerful why did he keep the suit after his return? Imo he needed the suit, as he wasn't as powerful as he'd been before... still powerful, yes, but easily lining planets up powerful? no...

and wasnt it just rann?

Let's look at what he did after he got back:

he fought Black Adam, and while he seemed to stand up well to Adam's punches, so have people like Superman and Marvel... he does punch Adam a decent distance, but he isn't the only one, for example Atom Smasher (JSA #27) did it, so its not a huge feat imo, given that Adam was only out of the fight because he'd been knocked too far away, and he was conscious in the next panel. we also see prime is resistant to magic, but thats earth one's magic, he could very well be vulnerable to his old earth's magic...

Then prime fought J'onn, and J'onn in the few panels it showed had as much of the fight as Prime had, and we only actually see j'onn go down on a screen behind batman in a later page...

then he fights superboy, and in the course of the fight superboy hits prime pretty hard, because he gives him a pretty bloody mouth, showing that kon-el was able to at least hurt prime... and conner is the one who rams prime into the tower...

then after a short fight with bart, prime heads to oa...

as we know, on his way he meets the GL corps led by guy, and he proceeds to kill several of them...

Now: how many of the GL's he killed were Hal or kyle level? very few by the looks of it, and let me ask this question:

A sundipped Superman (earth 1, kal-el) without holding back couldnt do the same?

hal destroys part of the armour, so its not invincible (as we later see)

so then the two superman grab him and drag him to krypton's old site (entirely unaware that prime's abilities may have been altered), and after going through rao (i think its called) they crash on a kryptonite covered mogo... with prime's armour destroyed, and the red sun draining his powers (as it does with the other two supermen), he proceeds to kill earth 2 superman, and then fights earth 1 superman, who beats him...

long story short, i believe prime as he is, without the suit is just a slightly more powerful superman... with the suit, he's pretty much permanently sundipped...

thats why i think if you put current Prime against the group i named (and not even all of them), prime would go down...

Bumpedy bump bump bump...

Prime solos, the only reason he was taken out at all was because

A.He slaughtered the Titans and the only reasons the Flash's took him out was a combination of SBP being traumatized and PIS, there is no way Jay Garicks helmet should be able to block HV from a Pre-Crisis Kryptonian

B. When he got taken down by Superman, he had already been severly weakened because of his armor being destroyed because he was cocky and didn't expect them to ram him through the sun. If he saw that coming he wouldn't have let it happen. Seriously, he was so weakened by the end of the fight it was basically a 28 year old man vs a 14 year old emo kid
