Gladiator ripped through the crimson bands like it was paper. Do you know anything of the character? He has also moved planets and busted planets open with his fist. It was also stated (even though its hyperbole) that the guy ripped a star in half with his bare hands.
If gladiator isn't doing anything to the shield, supes isn't.

carver has a point though
only time the shield was damaged through physical means was from an angry blow from king thor, which mind you is a HUGE feat for the shield's composition cause cap's arm was still intact. the shield gave but it still did the best it could, imo that's amazing, the shield was still usable (not for bank shots however)
gladiator did go to town on it when he was at his most hyped moment in comics, he "was" superboy's parallel at that time right along side the actual canon legion kal.
it's consistent with the power of odin being able to rend it given that king thor is arguable stronger than DP tyrant whom was swatting gladiator like he was gladiator's mom's drunk boyfriend
