The hunter should have gone to jail, he had no right to kill another man. He could have reported him and the authorities would have dealt with it.
But then there is another less Rhino, and we can deal with losing a few humans, rhinos can’t.

I can see your point, Humans are, like Mr Smith said, like a cancer on the earth.Species came and went BEFORE humans were here, comets smashed up our planet and wiped more creatures out than we ever did. If no species ever died out then it would be a very full world after all.
Yes, that is very close to my point, although that is not where I got it from.
Yes they did, in a natural way, we are killing them in unnatural ways, we are shooting them, destroying where they live unmercifully. If they were still going endangered and extinct in a natural manner, I would not have wrote this.

We are in one of the fastest extinction rates in all of Earth's history. Where did you get the stat on a species going extinct every 18 minutes?
I must start off with the fact that I really enjoyed your post, it was a nice read and I actually had trouble commenting on some of it.
From a lecture I attended.

However, your math on this interests me.They liberally estimate between 3 million to 100 million species and realistically estimate between 5 and 20 million. http://canadianbiodiversity.mcgill.ca/english/species/index.htm
Anyway, by your math...all species will die in 300 years. Let me show you math with your numbers.
First, there are 365.25 days in the average year. There are 24 hours in each of those days. There are 60 minutes in each of those hours soooo...you need to find out how many minutes are in the average year.
365.25*24*60=525960
Divide that number by 18 to find out how many species will die in the average year.
525960/18=29220
multiply that number by 300 to see how many species will die in 300 years
29220*300=8766000
That number falls very well in between 5 million and 20 million-the current realistic estimate of how many species that are on earth.
I basically wanted to find an even number of years to figure it out so that it makes it more real to more people, and I wanted to make sure it fell into the estimated number of species.

One thing that you, General G, are not taking into consideration is that fact that in the next few decades, we will completely unlock all of the secrets of organism genes. We will be able to completely create a species that is extinct from a saved copy of their entire genetic sequence. That is NOT science fiction. Even if we cause all species to die out in the next 300 years, we can bring all of them back with no problem and colonize those on another planet...even a terraformed planet.
But those animals will basically be clones of those older animals, and there are obvious problems with that. And Terraforming will be a long time coming, we are as far as I am aware nowhere near being able to terraform another planet.

so, if you are against the killing of bacteria...what do you do when you get sick? stop your white blood cells for fear of violating the inalienable rights of the microrganisms?
I personally let my body fight off any bacteria that enters my body.

Don't worry. Humanity will destroy itself at some point. Only a matter of time.
I know, I just don’t see why we have to do whatever we can to kill species off while we are here.

i disagree with you there. many try to do the right thing, and that's something. they can stay here, and the rest'll move to mars.
And I actually agree with you there, many people do try to do the right thing, I know many. I should have reworded it. It was more of a general thing.
