Are the boys taking it off topic 😕

Anyway, the who is of the school of thought that being vengeful is necessarily self-destructive?

Would you mind rewording that phrase?

Well some people think that bearing malice, for whatever reason is self destructive and that counselling should help patients get over thinking that way.

If it's simple little jokes/visions, I don't see a problem.

However....I could see it being a case that needs to be handled, depeding on the level of destructiveness.

Certainly fixating on someone can be very negative, but people of different dispositions have different ideas as to whether they should hold resentment against an abusive parent etc.

Yes, but the problems with a child hating their abusive parent, believe it or not, the child is most likely to become that hated parent once they have kids, because they might even become abusive as well. It's best to get help if you can, to understand how certain aspects of parenting are best recommended, and not in abusive ways.

I think it takes a certain type of temperament to actually want to get rid of the baggage so completely as to stop feeling hatred about it.

Abusive parents as well? My mom only is. My dad's nice, I live with him now.

It's amazing how the desire for retribution against an abusive parent or guardian can grip the mind.

meh... the whole family sucks... father abandoned me, mom's a druggie, stepdad's abusive... brother gets treated like the Chosen One or something...

psychotic idiots... dunno why they bothered having me if they were gonna be that way...

and honestly... if it weren't for Tiff (my gf) i'd have probably already committed suicide...

*sits back in a chair, lighting a cigarette*

which, i think, all dates back to this one time when i was 4... i wanted to go to the zoo... *rambles on for a while...*

Suicide ideation is a huge issue as well. Alot of people can react in a hostile way when they see it in others.

er... sorry, didn't quite catch that... could you... simplify your terminology?

Some people react badly when other people are suicidal. They can be hostile and unhelpful
