since this has been the most recent thread discussing astonishing x-men, i just want to comment here on giant-size. i. cannot. believe. what. happened. i can't really describe how i feel about it any other way.
also, about bishop, this whole thing about him tracking this kid through time reminds me of a story from x-factor way back when. the x.s.e. had come back through time, and one of their first missions was tracking down a child who would have started the slave camps in which greystone was raised in their future. micah leash, his name was. eventually they save him from the fate that would have led him on that path, but don't kill him like they might've wanted to. get the feeling something similar might happen with bishop.

What can't you believe? The random, unexplained plot device that prevented the Marvel heroes from stopping the bullet? Or the method in which the bullet was actually stopped? Because the method in which the bullet was "stopped" was pretty obvious; I figured thats how it would go down the moment Kitty phased into the thing.
Well it kind of was explained. The Bullet had magical protection...when Strange was pwned by the bullet the rest of the heroes got hit by the magical backlash as well...thus they were left drooling.

I thought that was Cassandra Nova!
Nah look at the page where Strange gets knocked on his ass. No one knows where the hell Cassandra is. I lost track we had Nurse Annie's Son, Ernest and Stuff. Then it was alluded that she's either still in Stuff or Armor. Emma's go to hell thing was ambiguous.

Yep. the problem I think people with find it that after the backlash occurred, the writer turned away from earths heroes for quite a few panels to show the x-mens status. By the time they went back to show them drooling, the reader isn't thinking about what happened with strange.

Overall I liked it. I mean some people can ***** and moan about Kitty being the main character but seriously, when does Kitty ever get any bad ass moments?
Yeah her big moments are few and far between, she's hardly ever the main focus in X-Men comics.
It was a pretty powerful feat, phasing the bullet through the earth, but I always kinda expected Whedon would use her in a big way because he seems to be a fan of hers.
I wonder what's happened to Lockheed hmm

I dont think kitty will stay away forever...let alone dead....which never last anyway 😉
Yeah, she will definitely be back.
Plus for a death it was incredibly admirable, she faced it head on rather than allow Emma to stop her from being scared and she did stop the Earth from being destroyed.

I agree, i will admit when she first appeared or shortly after i had a problem with her, one power and one that i did not think they could pull off well, in time she became one of my favorites and mostly due to her characterization, whedon just elavated her to another level
Kitty deserved the spotlight......Props to Kitty pride A.K.A Shadowcat....may she return to us soon 😉
