X-Men: Utopia

Does anyone else have the feeling that Cyclops is being breed as a replacement for Magneto? For a guy who opposed Magneto's philosophies most of his life, the X-Men (well... mostly X-Force) operate in a strikingly similar manor. Does Cyclops now believe that Magneto was accurate in his thinking? I think it would certainly make for some interesting stories, and with his tactical mind Scott makes for a better leader of a mutant militia than Magneto ever did.

I'm sure somewhere Magneto is thinking "I told you so."

That Cyclops scene was one of the most embarresing, and out-of character scene I've seen in a long time. I still lol'ed though.

i actually don't know what to make of it at all... i mean, everyone gets angry, but the way the scene played out...

the problem for me lies with marvel... they hyped up messiah complex as being a story where cyclops is a central figure, but some dipshit in marvel thought he wasn't a decent enough character as he was, so they decided to 'improve' him...

i can accept that in times of great difficulty, scott would make hard decisions, its what he's there for, and with the whole m-day thing going on, he really had to step up and steer mutant-kind along the right track...

i can excuse x-force as being some sort of knee-jerk decision on his part... he wanted to be seen to be taking an active role in preserving the future of mutants, but at the end of the day, imo, its a death squad. it's not something cyclops, in his 40 years or so, would EVER do. it's not what he was trained for, its not the kind of man he is.

i'm seriously expecting cyclops to realise how big a f*ck up he's made over the last few months with his attitudes and actions...

ideally, i'd like him to disband x-force (or at least think he's doing it), and go to emma and be honest with her, while wolverine decides he's got a good thing going and does it behind scott's back... everyone wins, imo...

Honestly, I like Cyclops better this way, naive and idealistic never really sat right with his character in my opinion. He realised how serious the situation was and the solution was out side the range of the bubble gum, rainbow, hugs and kisses X-Men's ability to deal with. I think he should have just came forward and said "The X-Men are soldiers now and you've all been drafted, deal with it" since making his movies behind the scenes with out anyone knowing is surely going to blow up in his face.

Once the rest of the X-Men find out about X-Force look out for the next big Marvel event Civil War: X-Men. 🙁

but that's the thing, i don't think of scott as naive... he's been through a lot of pretty rough shit in his life, but he's always kept the notion that 'we're x-men, we're heroes, we do the right thing' at least thats how i see it...

the x-men being soldiers is fine, and its to be expected, but not all soldiers are going to be like x-force, and i think its a serious problem that scott continues to use them as an asset...

scott has always been the kind of leader that questions his decisions, and rightly so, its to make sure he's done the right thing...

creating x-force, allowing and encouraging actual killing? that's not scott summers. it's emma, sure, its logan, but scott? he's supposed to be the moral one keeping the others in check without xavier around, yet he's headed down this dark path...

i think it is possible to be a good, honest hero and still get the job done, but thats just me...

😂 i know, i read it and i'm just like...

logan said... but scott and... he said what? pr1983

I hope that Cyke is getting something bad coming for his killing corps. Sure he is fighting for a race that is falling apart but I think he could be a better leader and a more respected as a hero if he came back from this with regret.

And I think it would be good to Cyke to finally come up as a leader to the whole super hero community not just the x-men leader in turn.

i agree with you...

he at least did show some regret in cable #7, i think it was... i think he's starting to realise what he's done, well i hope he is...

cable was ok, i thought, but nothing special...

x-force 8 wasn't much to write home about either...

was spider-man/x-men as crap as it sounded? at least to me? i havent read it...

which is annoying. even astonishing, which was the sure-fire bet, is now iffy...

ok i just read astonishing x-men - ghost box part 1, and i am so confused what happened.

Nothing. It was two alternate versions of the original ghost box stories from alternate earths.

so its not really important to the storyline?

not really, no, far as i can tell...

It's quite bad IMO.

The one shot was better than Ellis run on Astonishing X-Men so far. The art was better, the dialogue wasn't cringe worthy and the same story was accomplished twice in a fraction of the page count. Honestly... if would read Ghost Box 01 instead of Ellis' run so far, but if you've already read it you can certainly pass it.

It was a lot of fun, if you like seventies X-Men and Spidey stories. If that doesn't particularly ring your bell, you'll hate it.
