Silver Surfer = Overrated?

Compared to other characters in his tier, such as Gl's(Hal, Kyle, Alan), Thor, Superman, etc, do you find Surfer overrated? People talk a lot about Superman being overrated, but how about Surfer?

You should request to have this moved over to the "comic books" forum.

That way it won't be closed.

And yes...Surfer is overrated.

Hell no. You take out the PIS and Surfer's a freakin beast. But just so everyone knows, I don't consider many of the people you listed as being overrated either. Most of them have the feats to support their fans claims(though probably not the claims of the fanboys, but the same is true of Surfer).

I don't think the characters I mentioned above are overrated. I actually find them underrated when compared to Surfer. You place Surfer in a thread with any of the three mentioned above and you'll get posters swearing up and down he'd take 7-8 matches against them. They'll disregard all previous match ups, others feats, Surfer's personality, and how he fares against more powerful opponents, and blindly claim he wins.

As I said the fanboys take it to far, but that can be said of ANY character.

It's not just the fanboys, I've seen some of the most respected posters on the board disregard showings of others, Surfer's showings or lack there of, and how he fares against more powerful opponents. Many sit in silence and watch, I'm kinda tired of it. It's a double standard that needs to be addressed.

He's basically DC's version of Surfer.

Same powerset and abilities. Hell, he even has internal conflicts like SS.

Understandable, but when thats the way the majority of the forum thinks, it's difficult to ignore.

I've always acknowledged Supes being tagged by people with sublight speed as BS, so I don't see how it could be a double standard on my part. I just used it as an example of some other people's double standards in regards to Supes and Surfer 😉 .

Anyway, no, he's not.

Anyone (anyone) with lots of showings will have occasional bad showings. But Surfer more than makes up for his fews low showings with a ton of high-level feats that are both versatile and pwoerful. As far as I'm concerned, he's near the top of the "high herald" tier.

Surfer isn't overrated. As that mod guy said, everybody with a truckload of showings is going to have bad ones, but (IMO), SS's average supports the general forum consensus for his abilities. By general, I'm obviously ignoring fanboys and the like.
