No. It was started by the U.S.A. when we put Sadam Hussien in power, and started getting involved in the affairs of the Arab World long ago.

Yes, they were, but why does it matter if they were American or not ? Is an American somehow worth more or less than another person ?

That they did, a horrible event lead by zealots.

No amount of repentence will clean Bin Ladin of the murders he committed.

Do you agree? Disagree? Find yourself getting emails like this?
No, I don't get emails like this. I used to get them from both my uncle and my mother. They drank the kool-aid a long time ago. But after my first few "reply to all" responses to the mass emailings, I mysteriously stopped getting any propoganda emails from them.
The really sad part is that whoever sent this out (and I highly doubt this was from just any soccer mom roaming the aisles of your local Safeway) decided to tell you it was a house wife, because they want you to walk down the grocery aisle and think that the simple people you see around you; 1) have time to give a shit about the specifics of 9/11 and 2) would take the time to consider them if they did. They want you to think 'merca is pissed! (*D'ey took ur jyobs!*mentality) They want you to think that if you don't feel this way, that there's something wrong with you, that you're less of an American. It's a way of making just anyone feel like they're an American hero, too.
As for Jesus and the G.I.; one rides a donkey and asked his dad at the last minute why he let it happen to him and the other we give helmets, guns and tanks. I don't see a comparisson. In fact, I think it does a great disservice to both, because it implies that both are playing their parts in history with some sort of death wish. Being willing isn't the same as wanting. That's a wreckless assumption on both parts.
I also like the audacity of this so-called soccer mom, when she says: If you don't agree with me, then you can't complain when we get a dirty bomb shoved up our ass! That's ignorant. It's all part of this "You're with us or against us" mentality that this fake war on Terror! *gasp* has caused in people. I know there are a lot of people in this country that have grown up in teh generations since WWII, that think the U.S. is the only SUPER POWER, and that the rest of the world needs us as a guiding beacon of freedom and principles. This is simply not the case. You aren't really a super power, when you're the only one who thinks so. (But, that goes back to the mentality to which I am speaking)
There's a million people outside my window that think America is like Dog the Bounty Hunter. We stand around and pray before we go to catch the bad guys. Well, that doesn't mean that sometimes the force used isn't excessive or unjustified, simply because they're chasing Iceheads.
America needs to get over this idea that a human being becomes a super hero just because they were born here. That kind of attitude leads to the dangerous opinion that the converse must be true; that everyone else is the damsel in distress or the villain twisting his mustache.
And what's worse, is that pointing this out to people of this mindset is a waste of time. They tune you out, turn on FOX news and talk amongst themselves about fake emails sent out by "house wives". This is simply not how the world works. This is why Anne Coulter called John Edwards a fagg*t! John Edwards is a fagg*t because he listens to people and reads and takes the time to consider another's position and showers (AND WHY IT'S HOW THEY FEEL<--dangerous word!. When he's not out chasing ambulances, of course.) This is touchy-feely fagg*t behavior, when what is really called for is a steel toed boot up the ass of anyone who disagrees, be they friend or foe.
This email is arrognat, irresponsible and dangerous. And the sad part is that people of that mindset get off on being called that, as though it were a medal of honour.
Bardock and Spearofdestiny beat me to it...
Oh what the hell.

I first read this when it was posted yesterday, but I didn't say anything because I had nothing to say about it. But I knew that absolutely no one would agree with it.

Well, I don't think there's a whole lot of across the aisle politics with this administration. As for the democrats, yeah, I guess it was their responsability to fact-check, but I'm not sure how they'd go about it. And I think a lot of what happen was a result of the American people being lied to, being whipped up into a freenzt. It would have been political suicide for any democrat to come out against the war. As it is now, some of the ones who did are running for president on a wing and a prayer.

I'm gonna have to disagree, pretty much entirely, on the first part of this.
The ultimate point that would end up being made if this particular sub-discussion were to continue back and forth, is that there is no democracy in America, much less two different political parties.
