Jacob stood again with a grunt and winced. "That's a good soldier there.. I am expecting you to get him out of here." With a semi-confident smile, he surveyed the area. He ignored the beeping of his hud that was warning him that his suit had sustained more than eleven breaches. He had become so used to the sound, he could almost no longer hear it.
Rek shook his head and growned as intense pain shot up his spine. He opened his eyes to see Kat, and then Jacob. "Uh," he coughed and then his hearing picked up the the sound of com chatter. "Whoa!" Lieutenant Mirez blinked several times and then tapped Kat's vizor. "Hey." He coughed.

140 miles south-west of infection site.
Captain Carl Fulhern walked up to the missile base, General Adams Herson. "Orders sir." He heaved a business suitcase onto the Generals desk. "From the Pentagon."
The General nodded. "Report back here at 02:00 hours and keep an eye on the coms. See if we cant avert a launch before we go nuclear." He looked at his watch and then looked up. "Dismissed."
Carl nodded and saluted.
After he left the General took out his com. "Get me Special Ops. And hurry, we dont have much time...."
Rek nodded. "Ribs cracked but I can stand." The Alpha team leader stood and turned to Jacob. "Tha- that should work." He imediatly pressed against the severe dented rip in his chest plate as he felt a deep cut and the torn muscles in agony. "Ah! Damn! Jacob, w-we shoud get outta this p...."
"Lieutenant Jacob. We are at the extraction point Sam indicated earlier. Hurry. Shiit. Sam get ov-" The sound of gunfire over takes the transmission that only Jacob can hear.
Kat stayed close to Rek so he could lean against her for support. "Don't move. Before we go anywhere we need to get that plate off and stop the bleeding." Her hand moved to a pocket on her suit where she kept gauze and bandages. "Do you think you could get it off of him without maing his wound worse?" She looked up at the others, hoping to get a yes.
"I'm just happy he wasn't bitten."
Those words echoed through his mind as his mind went back to his bite. It was almost the same except he kept most of his sanity. In fact he was almost one-hundred percent the same except for his eyes. This fact made him keep his visor unnecessarily dark. "I'm getting nothing but gunfire, say again? Damn.."
