Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z was my very first anime, and is what got me into anime in the first place, which is why its on my top "15" (not "10"😉 list. Also, its a lot more interesting for me watch, than a lot of newer, and more overrated, shounen (which I will not mention here, since I know that I will get flamed for doing so, lol 😆 ).

Anyways, could you please try and stay on topic. Why not just list some of your favorite anime, if you don't have a top 10 list?

Yeah, i guess you're right. Didn't mean to sound like a troll there.
Anyways.. top 10 huh? In no particular order then:

Neon Genesis Evangelion
Planetes
Juuni Kokuki
Hunter X Hunter
Haibane Renmei
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
ARIA
RahXephon
School Rumble
and guess i'll throw in Azumanga Daioh in here to.

There are still alot of shows out there worth mentioning. Theses are the ones that i remember from the top of my head 🙂

oh my god i totally missed out yami!!!! how could i do that. well ill just have to have 11 fav animes 😄

Its good to see that there is someone else who likes Hunter X Hunter 😎 . On most forums that I go to, a lot of people have never even heard of the series 😆 .

Never heard of it?! Blasphemous! Well, guess it never grew as popular as other shounen ala Bleach/Naruto/DBZ etc.
Not to mention a quality fansub/DVD-ripping group. So the audio/video quality is kinda crap when you DL it.

Another shounen worth mentioning is Hikaru No Go.

Hikaru no Go was great 😎 . Wow, I'm impressed. Most people don't really give much shounen a chance, past the overrated ones, such as Naruto, Bleach, Inu-Yasha, etc......OH CRAP, I just mentioned them.......well I suppose that I'm going to be getting my ass flamed by some fanboy sooner or later, lol 😆 .

getting back to what I was saying: I have read all of the manga for HnG, and I have seen the first 30 or so episodes of the anime (I stopped watching since it was pretty much the same thing as the manga; and therefore, I already knew what to expect, as well as what would happen). However, the anime has surprisingly good music, and I still found it entertaining to watch, even though I had only recently finished the manga when I had started watching it.

Another (somewhat) underrated shounen, IMO, would have to be Yu Yu Hakusho. Most people only see it as nothing more than a cheap DBZ clone/rip-off, but I have watched the entire series, and the anime had a lot more going for it than what most people realized (that, and the fact that most people don't seem to give it enough of a chance). It also happens to be by the same author/mangaka who created Hunter X Hunter, Yoshihiro Togashi 😉 .

BTW, would you by any chance happen to be fan of the Berserk manga (I'm guessing that you are at least a fan of Berserk, because of your avatar/icon). The reason why I ask if you read the manga, is because I just simply wanted to find out how many volumes/chapters of it are currently out. I have read a little bit past the 1st volume, and want to continue reading, but I might want to hold it off if its really long. Could you at least tell me if its more or less than 35 volumes (because if its more, than I will hold it off until later; but if its less, than I may continue reading it for the time being). I just don't have the time for an extremely long manga series right now. Anyways, I would appreciate it if you could answer that for me 🙂 .

I agree with you. Naruto and Bleach are overrated. Don't know about Inu-Yasha since i've never bothered watching it. But i have to say, even if the Bleach & Naruto animes are overrated is still find their manga counter-parts enjoyable.

I've come to realize that one should never read the manga first if you're planning to watch the anime. I was one of the people who read the Death Note manga long before the release of the anime. Thanks to that i find the anime enjoyable at best :/

I havn't seen Yu Yu Hakusho yet. So i can't give my opinion on that matter. But it's on my "To Watch" list so i'll get around to it sooner or later.
Yet another shounen worth mentioning is Hajime No Ippo 🙂 The manga is nearing 800 chapters.

BTW, would you by any chance happen to be fan of the Berserk manga (I'm guessing that you are at least a fan of Berserk, because of your avatar/icon). The reason why I ask if you read the manga, is because I just simply wanted to find out how many volumes/chapters of it are currently out. Berserk is my favorite manga of all time. It's actually the first manga i started reading. The manga is currently in it's 33rd Volume with no ending in sight. It's been ongoing since 1988 so there's no telling when the last chapter will be released.
But seriously, i strongly recommend you check it out. It starts getting really badass after volume 13 🙂

Thanks for the info on Berserk. I will make sure that I ge back to reading it as soon as possible 😄 !

As for Naruto and Bleach, I don't hate either of them, but I do feel that they are just avereage shounen at best. I stopped watching the anime versions for both of them, but I am still reading the manga for them (and I'm more or less up to date with both). I just feel that they have really been going downhill as of late though.

I also started with the Death Note manga first (and in fact, it was my very first manga 😉 ), but I still really loved the anime (its just that it wasn't quite as enjoyable as the manga was for me, but still an amazing series overall). The HnG anime is also great, and I would have loved to keep going through it, and see the story all over again, but there were also other anime that I wanted to watch, which is why I decided to put watching the HnG anime, on hiatus.

I have heard of Hajime no Ippo, and how long it is, which is why I will be waiting till next summer, when I will have loads of free time, before I actually start reading it, lol 😆 . And as for YYH, its a great anime, and one of my favorites, however I must recommend that you watch the anime in English. The dubbing is surprisingly great, and its not as though I don't like the Japanese voices, but I just feel that in this case, the English voices fit the characters better, and make this series even more enjoyable than it already is 😎 .

Be sure to watch the Hajime no ippo anime too. The manga and anime don't really interfere with each other cause the manga is way past the point of the story where the anime finishes.
But i recommend watching the anime first. Has some great fighting scenes in it.

As for YYH and watching the english dub. I'll see what i do. I'll probably compare the both first. Cause when it comes to anime i prefer watching it in japanese (who doesn't? 😛). I sadly watched through Berserk (anime) in english dub, and it wasn't a very pleasent experience. Though i did get used to it somewhere along the way, i most certainly would have prefered watching it in japanese.
On the other hand i really liked the english dubbed version of Spirited Away. Great movie.

Anyways, i'm DLing YYH now and i'm gonna give both versions a chance. See which one sounds best. Thanks for the heads up

No problem. And thanks for the info. I have been planning to watch Hajimo no Ippo some time, but I have quite a busy schedul ahead of me, in terms of preparing for college next year, so I won't really be watching too much anime for awhile (which is why I have currently only been reading manga).

As for YYH, just so you know, I find that it takes a few episodes for the English voice actors to get a trule feel for their characters (I would say around 5-10 episodes, to be a little bit more exact). But, you should notice how much funnier the lines sound in English many times, rather than in the Japanese script, which is not bad, but at the same time, just not as funny at the parts where it counts (and I of course mean funny in a good way, lol 😆 ).

Also, just so you know, most people find the beginning of Yu Yu Hakusho to be predictable and/or boring. I personally found the beginning to be great, in that it did a fantastic job of introducing the characters, and because it was very uniqe (remember, this is the earlier work of the same guy who did Hunter X Hunter 😉 ). I'd say that if you don't like it at first, at least give it a chance up until the middle of the Dark Tournament arc, to see if you really like it or not. But, hey, we've got one of Japan's most brilliant mangaka constructing the story, so how can you not enjoy it 😎 ?

Ehh, I can´t name ten since I haven´t properly seen so many... 😄 But:

1. Black Lagoon
Fullmetal Alchemist
DBZ

The second and third aren´t worth a number compared to the first one. 😄

LoL, only ones that I have seen more than few episodes! :/ Though I just pretty recently started to get more into anime... Anyway, there´s the list.

If you like Black Lagoon, then I recommend that you check out both Hellsing Ultimate and Cowboy Bebop 😉 . They are both extremely awesome anime, with lots of violence; mainly with gun battles, blood, and gore 😎 .
