Thor: Blood Oath #3, I believe.

But it's imperative to mention that even by Thor's own admission, Herc is > in h2h fighting.

this it ?

Yes.

To say something said earlier...

I've read practically all of Thor's comics, from the time he fought the Korg's, to the time he fought and dismantled Iron Man.
And quite a few crossovers (I do have all of the Avengers books...).
I've seen him struggle with Spidey (Masterson bastard), I've seen him get edged out by Herc, and had trouble with a bloodlusted Thing (although he was holding back, but still). Hell, Wonder Man has edged him out before in h2h.
Now, those are Thor when he's holding back, and basically trying to go shot for shot.

When Thor has fought smartly, or just pissed, he's a lot... a lot better.
Mr. Hyde comes to mind. Hela, Loki/Fenris, suped Fenris and army, Infinity Watch, Ares/Pluto, etc.
He's basically destroyed those guys, but again, that's at his best.

Now, Thanos, who we've only seen try to fight without total overpowering a couple of times.
Champ is the first one off the top of my head, his fight against his clone (his more powerful clone), Jack, Jack again (dodges his blitz, and basically one backhands him at the same time).

Now, Thor obviously has more showings, but do his showings prevail over Thanos (who's not using pure force)? I've never seen it.
Thor's good, but I fail to see him being better than Thanos.
Plus, again, we've seen Thor go all out, and use his speed, and everything to the fullest.

The closest we've seen Thanos go, is when he fought his clone (when he wasn't whole), and completely owned him towards the end. And hell, it didn't even seem like he was going all out.
And with Champ, he took no hits, danced around him, and delivered a little bit of punches. However, he toyed with Champ, and if you call it Thanos fighting (he didn't hit him that much), well, then I guess he did pretty good.

Is that assuming? Yes, of course it is, but, I still feel, and see Thanos as a better fighter.

Even if he enters 'I just want to overpower you with strikes mode', he will still take out Thor rather easily. Look at what he did with Surfer.

However, if he fights smart... well, he owns Thor still, but with less hits taken, if any.

Another thing. Spider-Man is hardly comparable, because with Spider-Man, it's agility. Flipping around, jumping.
With Thanos, it's footwork, like boxers have.

Thanos battles his way through the mind of a being (And kills the guy in the process).

what can thor honestly do to thanos?

Thor is screwed here. I think everyone can agree with that.

Thanos definitely has some ability. Anyone who has taken any form of martial arts knows that it takes one to train one. As for the Champion feat, Thanos pretty much outclassed him, but the fight was mostly in the head -- the few punches he landed were simply filler.

Thor gets into fights a lot more, but hasn't really shown any real amount of skill apart from brawling, which could have been the idea, given his origins and all.

Playing devil's advocate here though. Thanos is obviously faster and stronger than Thor. As per scientific studies, you cannot judge them both without comparing their skills ceteris paribus. For example, if you gave Aunt May Thanos' physical abilities, she would in all likelyhood kill Thor with or without skills. That doesn't make her a more skilled fighter. It makes her physically dominant. If Thor has the same physical attributes as Thanos, his fight with Champion would have been very different.

Just remember, the argument is about skill, no? In that case, natural speed and strength as well as durability etc should not play a part.

So 1 feat makes him a highly skilled martial artist?

Stop putting words into my mouth. I never said he was a good martial artist. Simply that he has some degree of skill in fighting h2h, not more than Thor, just some degree. And I dont care how many feats he has, the one feat he does have fighting h2h he is trumping one of the Universe's greatest fighters.

Superman Prime has 1 or two feats, but you regard him as pretty powerful right.

yes simply put. thor is screwed here.

🙂

thor would lose badly, but mainly due to the strength difference. now if we take both their powers away, and have them fight h2h as regular mortals, then thor would then be able to put up a better fight.
