I thought the movie was great!!! I thought some of the musical aspect of it dragged on a little long, but it was a good balance for all of the graphic violence. haha, I really think if it wasn't a musical, it woudln't be an acceptable movie cuz of how much mindless violence there is....I loved it though!
Normally considering tim Burtons track record on how he royally screws up a movie on proven classic material he touches-Batman,planet of the apes,willie wonka,I would normally have voted ARE YOU KIDDING,WHY WOULD ANYBODY WANT TO SEE THAT? Burton is a real pervert,he has a mind for unnessary violence and gross disgusting things in his films,but Sweeny Todd however seems to be right up his alley.I think he'll be right at home with this film.he wont be able to mess THIS one up because the original material does have have some gross and disgusting things in it.which again is right up Burtons alley. 😄 So I think he'll do a good job with THIS film and from what i have heard,its a good film.

I'm not usually a crazy fanboy/chick of Johnny Depp or Tim Burton. In fact, I don't like many movies they do. I went into the theater being a fan of musicals and a fan of movies. The Music was pretty good, and the singing complimented it well. Yes, from Johnny Depp. Surprising he can sing, right? Nah, not really. My only problem with this film was the beginning. Spoiler:Though the best role in this movie was not a very big one, Sacha Baron Cohen was great as Pirelli. Casting of Helana Bonham Carter was great, I love her as an actress, a singer? Well, they could've chosen better singer, she's good not great, get it? I was entertained by the film, by the music, by the characters.
Going after Johanna, seeing her in the window, getting the judge into the shop then losing him, etc

Back on the topic of this film...
I heard that they originally considered Meryl Streep, Toni Collette, Emma Thompson, Annette Benning, and Cyndi Lauper for Mrs. Lovette. Cyndi Lauper would've been better than Carter. She wasn't that great of a singer. She really stood out from the rest of the cast, which were all fantastic singers.
Hehe anyone else view Todd as if Edward Scissorhands got human hands but just decided he liked cutting to ****ing much,cuz i sure did 🙂
On a serious note:i enjoyed the film. It was an accurate rendition of the play and the songs were done well. I think the beginning songs werent as good as the play but the others gave me chills. And any movie where Borat gets his gob sliced is 2 thumbs up from me! 🙂
