Have you actually read the materials presented with IQ testing in this thread?(Presented by yours truly.) Again, IQ is an intelligence quotient. Is there a better way to measure intelligence than with an intelligence test? These tests have been through many different versions to accommodate environment and adjust to more accurately measure intelligence. (Expressed as a relative quotient.)
Would not this type of testing prove his point that they are less intelligent, generally, than the rest of the world? They have been improving the IQ test since its modern inception of 1905.

The fact that he is assuming the man is intelligent based on silly criteria isn't a rubbish argument.
I'm not arguing that he isn't intelligent, just that the reasons Moff is suggesting doesn't necessarily make a person such.

In this specific instance, you can make your argument and do it logically without fault, but all three of us know he has plenty of intelligence. If he was measured against those in his age group, he would be far and above the genius level.
Anyway,
I know exactly where you are coming from. There is this one network administrator that I work with that most likely has an IQ less than 90. But he has spent so much time memorizing facts related to servers and networking that he is at the top of his field. It is very hard as hell to teach him new concepts and things don't "click" very well for him.
However, you would never catch him speaking like Dr. Watson.

African American and White undergraduates completed the APM under three conditions. In two threat conditions, participants received either standard APM instructions (standard threat) or were told that the APM was an IQ test (high threat). In a low threat condition, participants were told that the APM was a set of puzzles and that the researchers wanted their opinions of them. Results supported the stereotype threat interpretation of race differences in cognitive ability test scores. Although African American participants underperformed Whites under both standard and high threat instructions, they performed just as well as Whites did under low threat instructions.

The experiment basically concludes that black/white test scores are based on the fact that black people are under more stress when told that they are being tested against whites or that they may be steryotyped against and thus perform poorly.
The most interesting part of the result was that the test was the same in all three conditions, so the participants who performed what they thought was an IQ test got a lower score on the exact same test that participants thought they were just giving their opinions on and were not really being graded.
Like anything in science, no one study proves anything conclusively, but it is interesting none the less, and sort of in stark contrast to the other study I posted earlier.
