Are you sure about that. Ive seen some images and descriptions of him looking black.

Thought so yes, but after checking up on it he does to seem to come from a black family, so I was wrong there.

Why do all black people think ALL white people are racist? ISnt that kind of a racist way of thinking?

Would that be considered racism or stereotyping?

Septimius Severus was born in what is now Libya and his mother for certain was of Roman [Italian] descent. I don't think he was black-African from the statues I've seen. Regardless though, "blacks" weren't strictly seen as a slave-race by the Romans, they enslaved all manners of people.

His father was a berber, that was Africa... So he was at least part African. The statue of him does show some middle eastern facial features, but like you said it doesn't really matter. Romans didn't look at skin color.

i did a search on this on google, there is one site that talks of him being black...

http://www.cwo.com/~lucumi/rome3.html

most of the coins and pictures shows him as white/caucasian features.

Are you sure?? Racism must've been like a million times worse for Blacks back then, in Europe.

The Greeks had slaves of all races, but felt that slaves were only slaves in mindset first, and once a slave was "liberated" (hence the term used in education (liberal education, liberal arts, etc.); the cap and gown is actually Greek in origin, showing that a person who is educated (a former slave) is the same as the freeman, the perfect democracy in wearing the long dress to show that no one can tell the difference b/t the freeman or slave, as once they both are educated, the slave is the same as the freeman). Socrates as well as Aesope was reported to be black in various books, but I've seen them both drawn as white too, the one that consistantly is said to be black is Aesope, moreso then Socrates..., that much I have read moreso then Septimius Severus, the only one reporting that Septimius Severus is black is that pro-black web site. Both Socrates and Aesop were able to win their freedom via reason, if they were able to reason, they wouldn't be effective slaves, and the Greeks really did idealize logic.

The difference with the American slavery (in my best guess) has to do with several converging aspects:

1. the caste system of India (when the British East India went to India and learned about the color caste system), marry that with

2. Europe's (then) resent problems with the Moors, religious conflict (some were blackamoors, who left a lot of dark skinned children when they raided Spain, leaving a stimga of "rape" = dark or permanent reminder, and it did leave a permanent reminder didn't it?), and marry that with

3. the Arab slave trade via Portugal/Spain and their views that if someone wasn't Muslim, they could be traded as slaves, and west Africa was off and on Muslim and non-Muslim, it's no different as it is today, if a person converted to Muslim, from what i've read, they were reportedly not able to be sold as slaves, but you know that happened anyway,

4. there were so many profiting, some were black in color and some weren't.

No not really, most Romans were classists not racists... (yes I know classists is not a word)

You mean, that regardless of race, ancient Romans would still respect Blacks of high status? You'd have to be stupid to believe that crap.

And classists might be a word. The words race, racism, and racists exists and are words just like class, classism, and classists may be.

FOTN, look @ stuff today. You really think a rich white guy gives a **** what race a guy is if they can work together to make a buck?

Sure since Black pro sports players aren't puppets to the man.

Not a good example because they are not on the same level as "the man."

We are talking men who have are of the same level financially. Obviously the sports owner is far more wealthy than the player he pays. Duh. Stop being an ass with examples and just using ones that help your argument (although that was a bad one to begin with.)

Oh and not all sports owners are white smart ass.

I'm black but that shouldn't keep me from being objective when viewing social matters.

As long as there is someone who is willing to act like a ******, there will always be someone who is willing to pay him to be one.

Might as well be. Like 98% of pro sport owners are White, dcik.

Rich men are rich men you idiot. Then by that, Cesar, as wealthy as he was, didn't, after all, treat Black upperclass statesmen men with respect, not only because they were Black, but because they weren't equal financially.

Kinda contradictory of you to think that when a couple of posts up you just finish writing rich men don't care what race you are if you can make a buck together. Now it's one guy with a million dollars will not do business with a guy with 2 million dollars cause they're not financially equally, Dumb.

Stop thinking.

Intentionally misspelling insults really makes you look like a tool.

If you're going to insult him, you might as well come out and just say it.

So FOTN why cant you just view people as equals? Why is it always a color thing with you? What do you have against white people in the first place? Did a white man steal your job or something?

If i actually spell out the words you'd get nothing but asterisks, idiot. And tool, lol...wtf? How gay. I hate that word. "Tool".

"You're such a tool, dude"! Gay.

You stop thinking too. And stick to the topic and stop focusing on misspelled and derogatory terms for penises. As hard as that might be for you. Now check my spelling, Biwulf.

Since i was a kid most Whites I've confronted in my life have judged me based on my skin color and treated me and my family horribly while always just minding my/our own business.

And they would always let us know what the problem was with us: Cause we were "n*ggers" and they couldn't have us around. I've mostly received racial slurs from Whites, like here on KMC, due to having an African background. Life's been horrible for me with Whites but everything ele's in life, with everyone else, has been good.

I remember one time when our home was attacked and my sister called the police and i had to tell her to say we're White so they'd come faster than normal. They did but when they came they were highly upset and told us that they won't fill out a report despite the damage and with the White offenders across the street, and they left. And the cops were White too. I felt guilty for lying but my family was under attack and we needed assistance.

So i just don't go near Whites anymore. I completely stay away from them, as i have tons of friends and not one White one. Crazy, hu. Like i already told myself that in the future, when I do buy a family house, it can't be in an all White neighborhood. No way. I'd fear for the safety of my family, my children, and i'd hate for my family to go through what me and my family unnecessarily went though with Whites for years and years. I'd definitely want to move to a racially diverse town or street with my new family. And yea not all Whites are like that but i haven't had any luck so I'm not taking any chances.
