I think the character's hilarious. Reading the wiki article on her makes her a little less so knowing she was based on an actress' performance of a stereotype but I still think it's comical that kind of stuff would fly in a cartoon. Yeah, it's still pretty racist but the idea that back then nobody had a second thought, not even the black singer who voiced her, gives me the giggles.

Racism is something given to the masses to make them bicker. The term race was actually not even used until sometime around 1750 in Germany (****, can't remember the city or institution; can someone help me out?)
