The default prep area is the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. You won't have access to the battlefield until combat begins, at which point there will be an assumed auto teleportation to the battlefield. Whatever you do with your 10 minutes, and where you spend it, other than the battlefield, and any random place that is not the base of operations of one of your characters, is up to you.

Basically, you either spend the 10 minutes of prep at one of your characters bases or at the Casino (by default). No other options.

...heh. If I were the team with Gambit, I'd seriously consider using the Casino for prep once or twice.

Two can play the same game, though I don't get much luck in casinos usually😉

How many characters is the limit of our prep posts? Because I'm already nearing 10,000 for the first match and may be forced to cut out a lot of stuff if that is the limit. 😛

I'm having this same problem with every tourney. 😠

There is no limit. If it gets truncated I'll simply post it as multiple posts.

Niiiccee. 😄

5 page right up here I come

😖hifty:

I think I write a novel.

I haven't decided on a name yet, but I think "This is how our team will pwn your team" is a pretty catchy one. 😄

looking foreward to that novel.

I think I would much rather enjoy reading "Uber Pwnage: The Reckoning" 😄

I may even create an event driven book. You know if team opposite chooses strategy A: skip to page 500 to see their @$$ kickin.

😛

I'm writing the first part of our writeup (prep stage) though that's rewriting of already made stuff with more precise timing.

Just checking in. They've got a brotha in chains here at work today. Any new developments I should know about?

I can't wait til this thing kicks off. This could be an epic tourney given the new format.

Whoever uses more than 10,000 characters is a coward (DC)!

😛

Not really, but I'm really hoping ours doesn't even make it to 5K. With how many posts we have, all we need to do is outline the basics of our plan and prep stuff. The actual strategizing I'd like to leave to our individual posts.

can you send me a link to a tourney so I can get a feel for how they go? I need something to reference.

Past tourneys, you mean?

I made a respect thread for them (in the independent and misc. directory). There's plenty of links from past tourneys to browse through.

My prep posts are a work of art and you know it! 😒

I believe Digi has organized a Tourney Respect Thread over in the Comic Section. It should have links.

Basically tournaments go like this:

Everyone has a debate against eachother proving why their strategy and characters should be able to defeat their opponent. You provide all the evidence to prove that your strategy will work utilizing your characters abilities and the aspects of the battlefield as well as how your characters abilities will counter the efforts of your oppoenent. You go back and forth in this manner until you run out of posts. At that point it's up to the 3 judges to decide which team presented the better, more believable plan of attack, not simply for them to say who they think would win based on what characters are available. The arguments themselves are what's taken into consideration, not simply the most powerful character.

During all that, B-Dub finds some way to divert attention away from the fact that he's clearly been out maneuvered strategically and does something flashy (yet inconsequential), but the judges lose sight of what has truly transpired, and he wins due to lack of attention to detail. 😛
