Friday the 13th (2009)

While New Line Cinema has already announced an August 13, 2010 release for FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2 3D, it appears the film has yet to get the go-ahead. "Still hoping for some good news that will take us back to Crystal Lake," Platinum Dunes producer writes on his Twitter page. Damian Shannon and Mark Swift - who penned the remake - are currently penning the sequel.

Well I have no hope for the sequel if it's going to be written by the guys who did the terrible first 're-imagining' version...

How was the first terrible when it took Jason back to the basics? After the failed attempts of sending him to Manhattan, having him possess others, & sending him into space, they did the right thing. They made Jason as he was before someone got the idea to take him out of Crystal Lake, and made one of the best F13 movies to date with actually likeable characters. You seem to have a profound hate for any reimagining/reboots, and put down even the good ones.

I don't have a hatred for re-imaginings/remakes at all, take a look around the board. I'm not even a fan of the original Friday the 13th film, so bringing up my so called profound hate is pointless.

Just because a film takes a fictional killer back to basics doesn't automatically make the rest of the film good... it wasn't a good film for me, and I had no problem with Jason actually, it was the rest of the film.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion, I think the original halloween movie is better than the remake, Davis' opinion is completely different to that 🙂

What was it about the F-13 re-make you disliked or had a problem with?

I mentioned something about it already in another topic Steve Big Boobs 😛 Mostly script/dialogue, hence why I mentioned I have no hope for it if written by the same guys as the first. Also, I couldn't stand most of the characters and when you don't like the characters you can at least look forwards to some nice kills to end their miserable lives, but nothing special. More inventive/better kills in previous 13th films.

Only decent one was the axe throwing kill on the stoner guy but he was the nicest out of the group of spoilt brats.

Big boobs FTW!

Actually for some reason I couldn't think of the word wobbly when I was typing that so put big instead... but yes, lots of wobbly breasts in the film, so probably kept the horny boys entertained... already gained masterpiece status for them then.

Steve, we're cool and all, but please, don't speak for me. I do not, nor have I ever thought the Halloween remake was superior to the original.

I wasn't speaking for you, I actually thought you thought the remake was superior, dunno why...maybe I'm thinking of someone else, sorry

You love my avatar and you know it 🙄

You mean the African American dude? You thought he was the nicest? What about the girl who got killed trying to help Clay save his sister? I thought Clay was a pretty good character myself 🙂 I don't think they were all spoilt brats, why else would they befriend a guy who's rich if they had rich parents themselves? Who most likely would have better condo's and houses in other places like the beach...not literally on the beach but they might have beach house or something.

One thing good about the film was boobs.

I was really disappointed when Clay's sidekick didn't show any. She was the hottest of them all.

I laughed when she died cuz I actually kinda disliked her in a way

I liked this remake i thought it was alot better then some of the sequals with the original franchise.

Yes him. I didn't mention the girl because I saw her as a lead compared to the others in the group. I liked her, the man looking for his sister, and the sister.

I believe it was Darth Martin who said something like that.

No problem and no, I don't. I used to speak out of my ass on other forums about how the remake was better before I fully watched the original, but that switched around right after seeing the original. The only Halloween film I used to hold above the original was Rob Zombie's Halloween 2, but after having time to carefully analyze the original, I think it's the best of the series, and practically the best horror movie of all time. It's a horror movie that I can find absolutely no faults with even if I tried.

As for F13, once again, it was a reboot, not a remake, there's a difference. And in all honesty, I found the reboot to be better than the original in this case.

This remake was without doubt the biggest load of sh!t I ever saw and to think they will continue to kill the legacy with a sequel. It's no wonder the horror genre is dying these days.

Well it's not dying, it's never been full of amazing films in the first place, but every year if you look outside of the mainstream, you will find fantastic horror films.

Lol, I still don't see how the reboot was a load of shit. People were all talking about how they wanted to see Jason go back to the basics as in the beginning of the original franchise, and then when it happens they complain endlessly.
