You may be thinking for the movie 'The Ring' - definitely a spooky movie, and I know there is definiately 2 versions. A japanese original and then a US remake.

The people in Ringu don't kill each other though after watching the tv/video.

I need help! This has been driving me crazy for a while...
I can't remember much about the movie, all I know is that the character I can remember has bleach blonde hair, he pees in a jar in the closet, he is either mentally retarded or just really weird and he wears his pajamas and slippers in public...if he ever leaves the house...and he is afraid of everything.
The real life actor is a stand up comedian and appears on comedy central sometimes but i can't remember his name...
any ideas?

The movie was late 70s or early 80s. The movie synopsis went something like this - some mindless soldier army who took orders from a crazy old man and a group of people were slaves to the crazy old man. They were on a planet and wanted to escape him and his army. This was definitely a science fiction movie. And in the end I think the group of people do escape the crazy old man. I remember seeing the movie trailer as a kid, and I have always wanted to see this movie, but can't remember the name of it. I want to say the movie name is GUNSHIP, but I often times turn up empty on the Internet with this movie title.

and like they live with this really old lady or something
and they decide to stop robbing
but then they realize the lady has no money
because they took it all away from her for some reason.
and they feel bad about her having like two cents.
and for some reason she needs her money back.
or maybe they need people to think she has money?
and so they decide to rob one last place to get her her money back
but maybe the rob it and send it back. i can't remember.

I know I'm being really vague, but It's all I can remember. I also think the movie was B&W. And maybe the lead thief falls in love with some female character, who's father is also involved?

No I looked at the ladykillers. Because I also thought it was that at first sight. But it's not. Because I'm pretty sure this involved an elaborate scheme to rob an entire building. Like office complexes, a store and like a bank. And no one dies.

I've seen the new one. But I read up on the old one, and I'm pretty positive it's not it. I thought maybe Donald Sutherland was in it, but now I'm thinkin' I'm wrong.

I've looked all over IMDB and wikipedia. haha i may be going crazy, but i swear i used to love this movie.
