STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- The Hunted

The stranger fires, but a 7 isn't going to hit you. The blue bolts bounce harmlessly off of the Last Laugh's reflector shield.

A 6 from you isn't going to do much either, but you reach the hatch and you are safe.

As soon as the hatch slams closed behind him, Kyle comms his partner. "Eerin, roll the ship and drop that sucker into the abyss! Then let's blow this joint." He heads to the cockpit.

"[Aye, Cap'n]."

Eerin pushes the throttle forward, sending the Last Laugh jetting in the same direction. As it goes, he quickly leans the craft onto its side, cutting through the thin canyons of Nar Shaddaa and attempting to dump off Kyle's pursuer.

Vroom! Your freighter shoots forward with a roar and you're off!

There is not a chance that your pursuer could have held on, due to the tremendous speed that your ship packs and how you angled the ship. You're home free, the both of you.

Kyle makes his way to the cockpit.
"Nice job with the walkway." he groans as he sits in his seat. "You could've shouted 'hang on' or something." He looks over at Eerin. "But thanks for the save. That was some hand cannon thay guy had."
He takes over the ship's controls and heads for space.
"We need a plan now. I think we're in trouble. Not only will that bounty hunter be on our tail, but I think Retter sold us out. I thought she was there for him, but her partner was stalking me the whole time. She was right there to back him up as soon as he drew on me. With Retter involved, I wonder how much we can trust this shipment?"

"[What would he have to gain from that?]" Eerin asks. "[We've never failed a shipment for the Hutts. Maybe her small talk was just a way of confirming you were you? Beats me, but I don't think it's Retter's doing. We should contact the Hutts.]"

"Yeah, maybe you're right. First let's make sure we shake any attempt by Rylis to tail us. Pick any short jump away from the delivery point that suits you. Somewhere we can do our own quick check for radiation damage like Retter said. And we can look for tracking devices. Bounty hunter like those things."

Eerin will run a check for tracking devices.

"[If there aren't any, might as well hit Lok and check there]," Eerin says. "[Otherwise we'll be sitting around in a large stash of drugs in our cargo hold...]"

No tracking devices found.

"Alright, just seems like every time we're not paranoid-cautious, something goes wrong. Oh well, keeps things from getting boring. I'm gonna go get cleaned up and rest, wake me before we come out of hyperspace."

"[Will do, Captain. I'll run some pre-checks for the radiation, if possible,]" Eerin says.

Eerin sets course for Lok and prepares for the jump to lightspeed.

Tough, that. You're not much of a mechanic, let alone a specialist in radiation damage, if there is any. You think the sensors seem a little funny, but you can't pursue it beyond that.

The Last Laugh blinks into hyperspace and you're heading for Lok.

Bedding down, Kyle?

(Yeah, Kyle figures he better heal himself. There's bound to be more trouble before long. And he's in a bad mood; he doesn't want to end up taking it out on Eerin. The Bug's a little sensitive.)

(You just don't want me to beat you up...)

Eerin keeps an eye on the controls.

You spoke too soon, Kyle.

The Last Laugh is soaring through hyperspace without issue when suddenly there is a brief power failure, accompanied by a horrible wrenching noise as the ship threatens to rip itself apart while slowing down to sublight speeds.

Alarms go off throughout the ship.

Immediately Kyle races back to the cockpit. "Eerin! What happened? Is it the ship or did we get interdicted?" He throws himself back in his seat and starts examining the readouts and sensors.

"[I don't know!]" Eerin says, trying to keep the ship under control after the sudden rapid decrease in speed and interruption of the auto-pilot's course. "[I think it's the ship!]"

"It's that damn radiation, just like Retter said. If I ever see him again.... Let's get everything shut down and we better check out the damage."

It occurs to you that it might be a bad idea, floating in space. What if you shut everything down and it never turned back on?

Whatever happened, the readings say that it started with the hyperdrive.

(Well, I didn't mean the whole entire ship. Just as it would be in dock. Unless we just happened to materialize in an inhabited system instead of the middle of empty space, it'll take millions of years to get anywhere without hyperdrive. My thought is to fix it rather than risk damaging it further.)
