The landspeeder serves as temporary cover as the Tusken Raiders, raining sniper bullets down on you from atop the dune, take turns firing away. Their shots are not very precise, but precise enough to strike vital parts to the landspeeder, ensuring its demise. The first thing to go is the engine that Snith had jury-rigged. It violently explodes, setting the landspeeder aflame.

At this point, while the snipers keep at it, Tusken Raiders start coming down the dune with gaffi sticks in hand.

"Oh, not good," Snith says, charging up his pulse cannon. "Ready for this?"

"Don't really have any choice but to be..."

"That's the spirit!"

The Tusken Raiders on the dunes will continue to fire, but the speeder still affords you some cover. Those rifles pack a punch, but they're hardly going to vaporize the speeder. But the Shaman that seems to be leading them is sending a welcoming committee to flush you out...

Between the landspeeder and the dune is the Last Laugh. It is nine frames to cross it and reach the dune.

They are also using the dune as light cover.

The Dune is certainly within shooting range though, right?

"I'll concentrate on the snipers first!" Rylis says to Snith, taking aim with her blaster firing (standard shot on one of the snipers).

Certainly. For you, cover is a nonissue and there was no penalty for distance. With careful aim, you roll a 10, enough to send a sniper rolling off the backside of the dune. You follow that up with a 9, wounding another sniper, then an 18, killing another. Great shooting!

For Snith, things are different. Lacking Eagle Eye, the cover and the short range of the pulse cannon cause a few problems. However, showing excellent marksmanship and taking full advantage of Carnival of Carnage, Snith whips out a 17, a 9, and a 20. Despite its shortcomings, the pulse cannon fries three of the Tusken Raiders.

The snipers are going to return fire, and the Shaman is yelling for the Raiders to move forward.

Rylis is not going to bother dodging (hurray lots of cover), and fire at the wounded sniper.

The landspeeder is excellent cover, so the snipers miss when they would have hit.

Your turn! Rolling a 7, you down that wounded sniper. Followed by a 19 and a 6. Two down, one wounded for 1.

Snith rolls a 20, zapping another Tusken Raider, but his subsequent rolls fail to do much damage, only wounding another Raider for 1.

The Tusken Raiders advance, with more appearing on the dune. The replenishing snipers make sure to move into deeper cover. The injured sniper gives up his shot, moving back with them.

The snipers are going to fire and the Raiders are going to continue their charge.

Still not going to bother dodging, Rylis is going to fire on one of the Raiders at the Dune this time this time.

"Think you can handle that group heading here?" she asks Snith, while lining up her shot.

Snith nods.

The snipers fail. If they don't change tactics, they will never hit you as long as you are behind the landspeeder.

Your shots slice across the tip-top of the dune with an 18, 13, and 15. Three Raiders down, shrieking as they take blasts to the chest.

Having left cover, Snith's targets no longer have the safety of cover. Range is still an issue, but Snith still zaps all three targets.

Shaman sends another wave of Raiders forwards, then brings another up onto the dunes. He must have brought a sizeable portion of his clan's warriors to investigate the smoke that the Last Laugh has been putting out. More snipers, too.

Same tactics for the moment - not going to dodge, and Rylis will again fire on the Raiders at the top of the dune. Will be doing something different next turn, though 😛

Those snipers are getting frustrated with their efforts. The landspeeder is being riddled with bullets, but it isn't making much of a difference to anything.

Only two down this time, as you blast them down charging over the top of the dune. They tumble down, just like your other victims, disturbing the sand as they roll.

The Sand People in range, Snith fires more confidently, lifting the pulse cannon up over the top of the landspeeder without exposing himself to gunfire. The purple blobs of energy fries two and injures one.

The Shaman orders the Raiders forward once again. Only five move up on the dune this time. No new snipers.

But the Raiders are upon you!

Rylis is going to snap a shot at one of the Raiders at the speeder and not bother dodging still.

The Tusken Raiders take a frame to move around you cover, either moving around the landspeeder or bounding over it with animalistic reflexes. Trying to bludgeon you to death, they swing their gaffi sticks at you...

4, 2, 8, 15, 16... very close, but not close enough. You calmly sidestep and duck their blows, only centimeters away from receiving a nasty hit.

Snith takes a different approach to things. One Tusken Raider comes straight for him, bring its gaffi stick across horizontally. Instead of dodging, Snith brings up his forearm and lets the gaffi stick impact on the bracer. There is a distortion in the air around the gauntlet... and the force of the blow seems to be stunted. Snith only takes a point of damage... and then blows the Tusken away as he fires his pulse cannon one-handed from the hip, on a 19. A 7 takes care of another, but the third misses on a 1.

Your shots, attempting to be quick, do admirably. The first Raider is wounded as the bolt hits his shoulder, but you kill him with the second roll. You spin and blast down another on the third roll. Definitely the best situation for you, blasting apart mooks trying to use cover...

More Raiders join the ones attacking you, flinging themselves over the landspeeder in a mad rush. But no new Raiders that you can see.

"Have fun with these guys." Rylis says, firing up her jetpack. She is going to go pay a visit to those still on the dune, preferably landing near those in 4 points of cover. If she can fire on the shaman while flying over, then do so.

It will take you four frames to reach the snipers in 4 points of cover, and the Raiders will attack before you lift off. That okay?

Sure.

The nonchalantness with which you are gunning down everything coming your way means you get the extra attack, putting seven Raiders on you. Just before you lift off, a Raider rolls a 20 and brings the blunt end of the club into your armored ribcage, for 6 damage. Before you're out of reach, another rolls a 17 and inflicts 3 damage as his gaffi stick scratches across your clothes.

Snith faces off against six, absorbing the impact from a 17 with one of his bracers, for 1 point of damage.

The snipers try a different tactic this time. Instead of trying to hit you, they try to hit the topside thruster. With all of them firing at the some spot at once, it is no wonder that it violent combusts, reducing the cover to 4. No damage from the explosion to you, though.

Snith takes a moment to reassess the situation, as one and twenty Tusken Raiders close encircle him, clubs raised.

"On second thought..." he starts to say, but the rest of his sentence is drowned out by the roar of your jetpack. Rocketing across the scene, you pop off a shot at the Shaman, which he dodges. A 7 gets no results.

You set down amongst the snipers on frame 22.

Back at the landspeeder, Snith guns down one of the Raiders.

Rylis is going to land as close to the snipers in 4 points of cover as she can, firing at one of them.

The snipers will fall back, completely unwilling to drop their rifles and try their hand at melee. They move down the backside of the dune, away from you and towards the herd of banthas camped nearby.

The Shaman and the Raiders hold their ground near the top of the dune, though they turn their attention on you, ready for anything you might do next.

And then you fire. As the snipers retreat, you catch out the three nearest you with bolts on 9, 9, and 19. Three kills, finishing off the one you wounded too.

Snith can do little as the circle closes around him and the Sand People unleash their fury. With twenty attacks coming his way, Snith takes five hits. He slings his pulse cannon over his back and intercepts each with his bracers, sapping them of their kinetic force. But he is not untouched. 13 damage is dealt by the Tusken Raiders as they beat and bruise him.
