STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Trials

Started by Captain REX59 pages

You are almost flailing now, Twirling again to kill a pirate and gashing Yorrik for another 17 damage. Double impairment!

With Cabas' attention turned to the pirates, Yorrik fires at him. Cabas spins about to deflect the shot with a Force Dodge, but Yorrik's 18 hits and another Fortune point spent, leaving him without points. Another ten damage to Cabas, who is caught in the side. Cabas is on triple impairment.

Shooting against the pirates isn't all that grand. Jan kills one, a guard kills one, and two are injured. The pirates, however, still focus on Cabas. More shots skim Cabas' sides, taking him to 80 damage and a death check. Easy pass.

Cabas then cuts five apart with a Spin and a Cleave.

No reinforcements this time. Things will be coming to an end soon...

"Xavier, focus!" Cabas says. There is a tone of urgency and worry in his voice. "Control your temper!"

Yorrik and the pirates will all be shooting at Cabas, as before...

Cabas' words ring inside of his ears. Xavier knows he must stop this. He begins to think back on his training. The fogginess begins to sake itself. He breathes easier.

"We surrender" Xavier says lowering his head, and turning off his lightsaber.

(?????? I am not sure it is what your Master had in mind)

Indeed, not what Cabas meant.

The Dark Side is currently tempting you, Xavier. It would be a Willpower check to shake free of its nightmarish claws and the uncontrollable power it affords...

Xavier will go ahead and make the willpower check, and then move on from there.

Shutting your eyes, you can feel the anger boiling inside you. Squeezing, focusing, even for a moment, and you allow this molten emotion to drain out of you.

Action is still yours.

Xavier begins to see clearly again. The unwanted reactions fading away.

He sees the pirates about to gun down Master Cabas. Xavier acts quickly placing himself between Cabas and the Pirates.

Use Defend for Defense.

Don't want to attack?

Xavier will use Twirl on Yorrik and a Pirate, Then move between the Pirates and the shots.

Defend for Defense

The pirate falls from a blow to the chest, but Yorrik dodges clear again. However, this gives you and Cabas both a chance to attack again.

Meanwhile, the security team gives the pirates one last volley. The pirates, now outnumbered and lacking cover, can do little against the repeating pistols of the security team. They are blasted away. Jan blows away two of the pirates himself.

No reinforcements arrive this time. The pirate raiding force is spent. Yorrik stands alone.

"Surrender and we will spare you," Cabas offers.

"And become a prisoner of the Republic? Not likely..."

"Have it your way," Cabas says, then thrusting with lightning speed. His lightsaber burns into Yorrik's chest, straight through his heart and spinal chord. Yorrik slides off the blade, dead. His rifle clatters to the ground as he falls.

"It can't be said I didn't offer him his life..." Cabas sighs, holding his lightsaber down. After a moment, he switches it off. He turns to you. "Xavier, I sensed something...wrong. Are you alright?"

Behind you, Jan is busy trying to patch up the two security guards that were shot down. He manages to resuscitate the man who had been shot in the chest, but the other downed man with the wound in his throat, it had been too late for. Even so, the rest of the security team gives a few victorious whoops, relieved that nearly all of them had survived.

"It was weird Master Cabas but my body seemed to act on its own. The stimuli overriding all sense of logic," Xavier speaks in a confused tone.

Cabas seems very grim.

"Control is what was required, Xavier. I have always emphasized that you need to control your feelings. In the heat of combat, one loses focus and self-control. This is particularly dangerous for a Jedi, Xavier. If we lose control of ourselves, of our feelings, during battle, the Dark Side finds its way in.

"Anger, Xavier, is what I sensed in you. Suppress it."

Jan walks over.

"Everyone alright?" he asks, holstering his weapon.

"Yes, we're fine," Cabas nods.

"But your shoulder..." Jan says, noticing the blast wound that tore through Cabas' shoulder like it was nothing.

"It will be fine," Cabas assures him. "The Force will heal me."

"If you say so..." Jan looks down at Yorrik, giving him a rough nudge with the toe of his boot. "Stupid bastard. He was Sviddy's right hand man. How'd he know to come after us?"

Xavier almost lowers his head at his Master's words. He had always been in control his body now he almost seemed to be tested and have failed.

"Yes Master" Xavier replies as Jan comes over.

Cabas hangs his lightsaber from his belt, and puts a reassuring hand on your shoulder. Cabas does not sugar-coat things and often comes off very rough and blunt, but that is his way of things. He never means ill by his tone or words, not to anyone.

"The Senator told him," Cabas says. "An exchange for him to take his daughter's place. Touching, but foolish."

Jan curses.

Xavier gives Master Cabas a nod. He knows it is his Master's nature. It is one of the things he most respects about him.

Yet despite the temptation he was able to over come it and come back. A good feat if Xavier thinks to himself.

"What do we do now Master?" As Xavier puts his Saber in his belt.

"Xavier, you will be a Knight soon," Cabas reminds you. "If you were on this mission alone, what would you do next?"

Jan is getting in touch with the bridge.

"The Pirates thought we were giving up, and therefore only brought a few men inti ally. The next wave was only the people they could get quickly. Soon though they will bring many. We won't last in here. Besides our mission is to save Loola we can not do that in here. I say we take the fight to them before they can organize." Xavier says.

"You're proposing we board the enemy craft, then?"

"Yes I do. Our mission is to save Loola. We need to get to her. We also need to disable this ship so we can escape as well. None of which we can do here."

"I don't think Sviddy is stupid enough to take Loola out of his sights," Jan says. "But might as well see what's left of the raiders and finish 'em off. I think this was Yorrik's ship, so without him around, the pirates probably won't give us too much trouble..."

"I concur," Cabas says. "We'll take a moment to regain our strength, then we'll board their vessel."

You have killed roughly ninety pirates, Xavier, so really you would be surprised if they had more pirates to fight. Still, your ship is currently disabled. Perhaps an alternative method of getting to Alemania could be determined?
