"Undoubtedly. Your mission will also determine how it is announced, I think. 'Senator betrays pirates and helps Jedi save daughter' or 'Senator dooms Jedi mission by working with pirates.' Which sounds better?"
Wojaine shakes his head and gazes out the portal as Cabas enters the room.
"We are leaving for Almania," Cabas announces.
Wojaine simply continues to stare out the portal as the ship begins to rise.
No sooner has the Senatorial shuttle left Auyebesh's starport that it is descending through Almania's stormy skies. Lightning crackles about the ship, threatening to drop it from the clouds, but the shields hold and the ship descends safely, though roughly.
The capitol of Stonia, a glittering jewel surrounded by irradiated wastelands of dust, is below. The shuttle slows as it reaches the city walls, carrying itself over them towards the center of the city. At the center is an enormous domed structure, the Dome of the Je'har, headquarters of the Almanian government.
Usually a capital city is impressive, Xavier, but this seems lackluster up close. Everything is constructed of stone, once finely hewn but now dulled by the elements and the ages of warfare. Several buildings seem to have been blown apart...and you remember your vision. The pirates raided this once mighty capital when they capture Loola. It was burned, but not destroyed.
The shuttle waits for an energy shield to be lowered in the Dome's vicinity, then lands near the last truly glorious structure. It too has been built of stone, but it is inlaid with precious metals and sparkling gems.
A welcoming committee approaches, consisting mostly of gray-armored soldiers wearing helmets reminscent of sallets, and officers clad in crisp black uniforms. At the lead is a man in similar attire, though his uniform is gray and largely decorated with medals. He also sports a black pauldron.
"Welcome home, Senator Wojaine," the man greets.
"General Romm," Wojaine replies, giving a deep bow.
"I see you have brought guests." General Romm eyes you, Xavier, disapprovingly.
"I am Jedi Master Ko Cabas," your Master says, bowing to the General. "We have been assigned to escort your Senator to his homeworld, and it is good that we have done so. We were attacked in transit to this world."
"I see," General Romm says. "Fascinating. Now, if you'll follow me, Senator, your quarters are prepared within the Dome. They may not come."
"Actually, General, I must conclude my business with them, before we part ways."
The General gives you another disapproving glare, then gives the Senator a curt nod and begins marching out of the landing site.
"Fun-loving fellow, that one," Jan says, shaking his head. He pats you on the shoulder, Xavier. "My Jedi friends, I fear this is the part where I must go. The General will want to review the security team and such..."
"Of course," Cabas says. "Goodbye, Jan. It has been a pleasure."
"Farewell, Jedi," Jan says, with a brief wave. "And best of luck."
"Er, yeah," Jan says. "I meant to say that..."
Jan marches off after the General, his security team in tow.
"Now, to conclude our business," Senator Wojaine says. "While I have spoken with Svidrigailov before, he prefers to have his informant contact me with information on upcoming raids. I have used this information to stage things correctly, so that the attacks appear unexpected and such. But it will be a flaw for him, I feel.
"Go to Pydyr. My contact's name is Kristof. You will find him with the information on this."
He hands Master Cabas a data-stick, then stands back, folding his arms underneath his robes.
"I will be forever indebted to you both if you can bring my daughter back to me. And I already owe you my life."
"There is no need," Cabas says. "It is our duty to defend those who cannot defend themselves."
"Of course, of course." Senator Wojaine nods a few times, then looks to you, Xavier. "I expect great things from you, young man."
Cabas quickly tells the pilot the situation, and the shuttle lifts off, leaving Senator Wojaine ruffled by the heat wave that emanates from the engine. He watches the shuttle vanish into the sky, whereas you watch him vanish below, in the city.
Pydyr is gray and unattractive, just like Almania. As you fly over the surface, you realize that you're flying over cities, which are all highly primitive. It is Corocus that is starkly different from these mud-brick villages the Pydyrians have made.
Corocus is the capital of Pydyr and a massive tourist trap. Coruscanti architecture has heavily influenced this hyperdeveloped city, but the Almanians who founded it put a sort of Las Vegas feel to it. It is absolutely loaded with casinos.
The shuttle sets down atop one of these casinos, the Spacefarer's Pocket.
