Young Chimp Beats College Students

Sigh, this is going to sound like such an ass thing to say but I seriously would have been able to do so.

I excelled in academics early on but my parents gave me the choice on if I wanted to skip grade school or not. I chose not to.

My parents both have a college education. My mother has a masters degree in nursing and bachelor in advertising; my dad an ivy league education from cornell (mechanical engineering and B.A.). I was fortunate.

I hated showcase my talents because people suck ur dick too much about the things you find easy.

But that was just my experience.

I didn't ask how smart you were, I asked why haven't you excelled above and beyond in one or more fields, "made your mark" so to speak, if we're all born with the same capabilities. Also, by stating that you have had a better opportunity to excel, why haven't you excelled above all others, as 'not having the opportunity' wouldn't apply to you.

"I didn't want to show off", isn't an excuse.

Anyone else thinks this chimp just debunked the Infinite monkey theorem?

The type-writer pounding and re-creating the entire work of Shakesphere thing? No, because it technically could be possible given an infinate amount of time, it's just not probable considering the preciseness.

See, I was thinking that if that if this monkey have such a good memory. Wouldn't that imply that he already be aware that he is repeating the same pounding again and again. Wouldn't then he be able to reason and eventually learn how to use the type writer rather than just pound it?

Let's test it! Put the monkey on a keyword. Give him 50 years and if he can come out with "To be Or not to be" I'll buy you a cherry coke.

Thread title made it sound like a chimp beat up some college kids. Needless to say, Im disappointed this isnt the case.

This discussion is really far off. Why the hell are we discussing whether or not chimps are intellectually better than humans?(as a whole)

Look, I saw the same test the Chimps were doing on TV...I would smoke the shit out of those Chimps and put them to shame...anyone of them...I would also do that to most humans...I think really really fast...on the same token, I have a hard time studying for more than 10 minutes..............................................................🙁

Does anyone realize that the Chimps had to practice that game a lot before they got the hang of it so that the study could actually be done? Does anyone else realize that the Chimps were rewarded as a means of motivation...were the humans rewarded with something as equally pleasing as the Chimps were? Does anyone else realize that some chimps were not chosen for the study because they simply would not do it right or participate. (That happens with many "mind" studies...some chimps simply can't get it or focus at all to be of any use for lab testing.)Does anyone realize that these Chimps were therefore conditioned and more "prepared" than the humans were? Does everyone also realize that most of the humans tested, IF given just as much time to practice the little game, would be much better than the Chimps at the same memory "game"?(On average, of course.) This is why the study is flawed...it is just a stupid way for animal activists and tree loving hippies to show how un-superior humans are intellectually relative to other animals.

I don't know what movie this is from but, "You can make any study show what you want it to." (Or something like that...it was from that movie about the speaker who represents a tobacco company/s and he is really good at arguing things.)

You and chit should get together, I'm sure with his amazing mathematics ability and your quick thinking, you'll either come up with a conclusive theory on the meaning of life, or be some sort of vigilante team. Just make sure your heads don't get too big before then though, they may slow you down when you're flying.

Is there anything wrong with that? Is it really hard to believe that I havee intellectual strengths and weaknesses?

Some people are great at drawing...some people are great at math...some people are great at thinking fast...WTF dude? You mean to tell me that you have no weaknesses and no strengths and you are just perfectly well rounded intellectually?

Not really, you said you think really fast and then admitted to a trait many geniuses have not to be able to concentrate on one topic for a long time. It was a good trade for you.

The thing is if a person is speaking about their attributes, no matter how objective they try to present it, it will be called an ******* move.

Now if another person praises someone who is generally well-received (even if not earned) if it is just taken as is.
