It happened early in countdown to one of the Monitors, it happen PreCrisis when Spectre stopped Superman from unmaking the universe with his speed, I think I've seen it in people's scans from Vertigo as well.

I didn't make the connection until I remembered where I'd seen that writing style before.

This could indeed end up being the result of Darkseid manipulatiion again. Oh sigh if it ends with Darkseid as the main villain at the end of countdown I could be highly disappointed. Depends on the story obviously but I really felt like it was Monarchs time to shine. Even though I hoped Prime would beat him I didnt feel he would kill him.
