The whole point of myx stuff was just to build superman primes character i can guarantee that it will be revealed down the line that myx was toying with prime.

SMP is immune to magic. Mxy's powers were retconned to being pure magic. The writers themselves confirmed that Mxy was not playing around with him, saying "It was the best decision he ever made" referencing how he ran from SMP.
