Superman flew from near Vega to Metropolis in a matter of moments

Vega is located 25.3 light-years away from Earth

I said I've never seen it. 😛

I've seen frames of him flying from one planet to another, with no descriptive text, but not much more.

I'm just not sure that he can do it. BUT I would gladly and unashamedly accept any schooling you confer to me on the matter.

😄 I coined the term, "speedblitz". 😛

bah... 😛

alright, here's one off of the top of my head/pics folder...

the pic i'll attach is, as it says, superman smashing into a dead moon orbiting saturn exactly four minutes after lex was made president...

according to nasa (i hope i'm reading that right... 😖), it takes between 67 and 85 minutes for light to travel from saturn to earth...

I already posted it on the bottom of the last page.

😮

So wait a secodn he flys from earth to saturn in 4 minutes....he looked like he was really trying as well....and then flys an even greater distance in less time. That vege feat looks like minutes but its still pretty impressive.

This seems inconsistent.

he was trying to smash the moon, it doesnt detail how hard he was pushing himself while in flight...

So hes facial expression changes after he went through the moon....looking at tthe scans it looks like he was generally pissed before and after he ploughed through the moon.

he was pissed because luthor was just made president... im not saying his facial expression changed, but obviously he's going to expend a little more energy when he smashed into it than when he was flying, hell, he'd even have to deccelerate first, if he was flying full speed when he hit that moon, it would have most likely shattered, and superman, no matter how angry he is, would never intentionally cause damage on that scale...

Isn't that scan pretty old?

That's probably pre-crisis, and thus, non-canon. The narration sounds distinctively pre-crisis.

I haven't seen Superman go past lightspeed in any recent comic, but I'd love someone to show me him doing just that. Narrative text description too.

Keep watching....

Supes manages to pull away from the cosmic force of a Black Hole.

Satisfied? 😛

Bro he was severly pissed off and thats the state of mind he was in when he started flying. So we can assume since its not everyday Luthor becomes President that Superman doesnt usually fly at that speed. In that state of mind he probably would be going near top speed.

You then have another scan of him with much less effort going 100s of times fatser

They happened a few years apart, and Superman gains in power day to day on Earth. Which is why people get laughed at by Superman fans, when people say "Well [such and such] happened to him in [such and such] comic..." and it happens to be from 86-96 or something, because the character Superman is now, is completely different, and exponentially more powerful every direction. It's barely even the same character at all, save the basic functions of his power-set.

Like back in 1990, Superman might struggle a little to lift a skyscraper. Now he could probably grab one and throw it like a javelin and hit Oa in the center of the universe. Even with the absurd physics of it not breaking down in the atmosphere or the stress.

Are there lots of examples of Superman nowhere days travlleing light years in moments?

Well he fly's between galaxies and things, its not really hard to understand that he goes vastly beyond lightspeed.
I mean in Infinite Crisis, he left Earth and chased Superboy Prime halfway across the entire universe in the span of a couple pages.

It's not always so clear-cut where you get the feeling of time-frame, but one minute he can be on Earth, and in the next, in some other galaxy fighting for the survival of some race he's never heard of.

In one of the battles with Darkseid, he grabbed him and flew to the sun in mid-sentence.

He's as fast as the writers need him to go.

No real upper echelon of his speed has been discovered yet.

As far as traveling speed, only Flashes and teleporters are faster in DC than Supes. Oh yeah, and boom tubes. Probably Infinity Man too. GLs are around the same speed, I think.
