Um......what does Apocalypse's back story have to do with the viability of his powerset versus Superman's in the real world? 😕
Apoc's powers are more useful for almost anything in the real world. Only thing going for superman is speed, since we don't know what apoc's limits are when it comes to that.

Ill get complelty off topic now and state that Marvel should finally amp Apoc to a abstract level being.....hes the on character I wish marvel would wank a lot.
Anyways to get back on topic:

In a real world setting, I'd much rather have Apoc's, if I could do something about the acidified metal gorilla look.
You could travel through space with Apocalypse's powers just as you could with Superman's. As I stated in an earlier post, Apocalypse can teleport from Earth to the Moon in a second. That's about 384,400 kilometers in 1 second. Not quite Superman's arms forward, cape waving behind you method, but very effective. In 1 minute you can travel 23,064,000 kilometers if you wished via rapidly teleporting, thus simulating light speed travel (a la The Void or spacefold technology). You'd also have better tools, adaptive weaponry, the ability to mimic the appearance of any alien species you came across and blend in seamlessly, and the ability to interface with alien technology for information, navigation, and telemetry.
Besides apocalypse's tech, he doesnt' seem to have anything that'd be more than fun to have in the real world.
Superman's powers real advantage is his superspeed and I guess a good degree of "super thinking" to keep up with that speed. You'll have time to do and learn as much as you want. And if you wanted you could bring food over to africa or power power plants or just create lakes and waterfalls around and make hydroelectric dams everywhere (Guess it would be easier than constantly charging some giant battery or whatever by spinning a giant turbine or something). And you can police the world if you want, get rid of nuclear weapons etc etc. and rule the world if you aren't afraid of forcing ppl to do what you want 😛
As apocalypse, if your celestial tech was able to be reverse engineered that'd be pretty good but see how far ahead of us it is, I doubt our ability to figure it out (and we're not given apo's knowledge about the tech right? just how to use it). Otherwise the only real advantage you seem to get is shape shifting.

Depends how you see it I guess. IMO Superman's would be cooler for space travel. 🙂

I'd like to experience stuff like suns, and stuff.Depends how you see it I guess. IMO Superman's would be cooler for space travel. 🙂
You can still fly around conventionally as well, the teleporting would be for covering vast distances. Just like how the Enterprise in Star Trek has Warp speed for long distance travel and impulse speed for conventional travel (not to mention that teleporting affords other advantages). You can experience suns, etc also. Don't forget Apocalypse has forcefields and adaptive armor. You might not be able to sleep in a sun, but I don't really see how that's a major deciding factor anyway given all the other options.
I'm trying to remember when exactly Apocalypse has teleported to the moon. Which would still be a thousand times slower than light speed - for practicality Superman's powers are still more suited to space travel - as batdude said.
I'm also trying to determine how much was Apocalypse independently teleporting and how much was a function of his bases. Any particular issues where he's teleporting for one to peruse?

For me anyway... I just can't see Apoc's being as good in space as Superman's... although I can't see Superman's being as good as Surfer's either, but still...

I don't think it was THE moon, though.

He was teleporting like crazy in X-Factor #24-25.
Actually, it's not 1000s of times slower than light speed Xmarks.
The speed of light is 299,792 km per second.
Apocalypse teleports from the Earth to the Moon, which is 384,400 km, in approximately a second.
Also, in the scan provided, he teleports from Earth to High Evolutionary's space station orbitting Counter Earth (which is in a parallel orbit on the opposite side of the Sun), and then teleports himself and H.E. from their battle in space to the underground caves with pinpoint accuracy.
Apocalypse's teleportation powers are a bit formidable.

Yeah...
He actually once teleported an entire fortress with him while leaving those within behind.
Ooops, was confusing m/s with km/s. I still can't recall the Earth to Moon teleport though unless you are actually referring to the HE scans.
All it says in the X-Factor Annual HE is "high above the Earth" I don't really see any mention of Counter Earth... but I don't know if it actually mentions where HE is so he could very well be orbiting the Counter-Earth.
I'd like to see something indicating he can go beyond a certain range of the Earth and his bases... otherwise one could easily infer that he can't teleport around the universe at whim... 😈
