Oh absolutely, I was planning on taking Galactus and using 36 hours of prep in a lab build his big machine to open (and close) each match by consuming the planet. Really, how else could I top the moon thing. 😉

The real question is would he still be starving after that, or would he then enter his next match fed?

That'll work, with the Galactus prep power up strategy you got there. BUT remember your surrounded by a impenetrable forcefield that is 10 miles wide in all directions (think of a sphere). So you won't be able to devour the whole planet. Just the battlefield.

However to a starving Galactus, that could be a significant power up. He won't be starving, but probably still hungry, but enough to more of a threat than he was before.

I just want to stress to everyone that what you buy in terms of characters and abilities applies to all the matches you will take part in. So if you buy 15 minutes of prep, you get that for all matches you fight in.

Does Silver Surfer have some sort of Godblast like attack I am not aware of? I thought that was just him not holding back.

Usually Surfer can get the job done without blowing up the planet. However he is a pacifist and prefers not to exert that much unnecessary power unless pushed. That's just his nature. Remember the characters will act in character rule?

If you truly want to unlock surfer's power, why don't you make a 2 person amalgam with one of then being silver surfer, and replace silver surfer's mind with someone's who isn't afraid to hold back?

Unless Silver Surfer is fighting someone who will make him fight not holding back... hmm...

Simply an example.

Or is it 😖hifty:

Yeah it is.

To the person who asked me,

Yes, Darkseid's omega "erasure" beams can be used (as portrayed in the last 3 years). They would be considered an Utter Devastation attack ability, but are limited to one successful "erasing" per round. You can't erase the entire opposing team. Plausibility is based on your write-up.

Also, just a reminder to everyone. Tommorow (Tuesday Feb. 12) is the last day to sign up for this tournament.

Forgot to mention that the cutt off time to sign up is 11:59 PM Tuesday (Feb 12.) Central Standard Time.

There are tons of loopholes in this tourney. I think people are scared of joining something so... out of control.

Can you point them out in a nice fashion rather than being a dick... please?

I think enough have been pointed out to give a general sort of idea. There's no clear boundaries on what classifies as what ability. Things like that.

Those aren't loopholes.

Just a miscommunication/lack of common sense.

A loophole would be someone drafting Jesse Custer. Which is really the only one I can think of.

I have a question about power copier's. Is the 8pt. cost automatically tacked on to someone like Super Adaptoid if he wan't to use the powers he already has access to, or is it something that you just have to pay if you want to copy the powers of your opponents?

Here's a suggestion: Rather than such arbitrary costs for things and people, perhaps we should value them based on more objective criteria. Here is what I suggest:

Metrics For Assesing Character Point Value:

Battle Skills (includes things like stealth and maneuvering)
0 Competant but not superlative, "average" military, kumg-fu, or similar training
1 "World Class" Combat athlete (Cap, Batman, etc)
2 Beyond Human skill (Gamora, Karate-Kid, Mantis, Champion-if-he'd-ever-quit-jobbing, various immortal warriors or gods)

Physical Strength
0 Up to Peak Human (or what passes for it in the comics)
1 Up to low 10's of tons
2 Brick's like Rhino, Iron-Man, etc
3 Crazy Strong, Hulk, Most Heralds, Kryptonians, etc

Durability
0 Normal, or mldly superhuman if also super strong, wearing basic body armor, etc
1 Bullet-proof, or otherwise immune to "normal" attacks. Can only be seriously harmed by "super" attacks.
2 High Durability, can withstand prolonged assaults from super-attacks
3 Nigh-invulnerable

Mobility (web-swinging/wall-crawling, tunneling/swimming, mild superrunning, flight etc)
0 Normal Human Mobility, or perhaps a bit beyond if also super-strong or a world-class athlete)
1 Match or outpace land vehicles
2 Match or outpace jets
3 Unmeasurable speed (Space Travelers, teleporters, Flashes, etc)

Combat Speed/Reflexes
0 Normal Human Reactions, or perhaps a bit beyond if also super-strong or a world-class athlete
1 Reactions matching fast animals like tigers or rattlesnakes
2 Superhuman or predictive reactions (Spiderman, etc)
3 Beyond normal perception (Flashes, Superman, etc)

Versatility
0 One or a few related abilities (Hawkeye, Pre-Crisis Aquaman, Angel)
1 A variety of powers and abilities, some related some not (Iron-Man, Superman, Thor wi Mjolnir)
2 Capable of almost any effect (Green Lanterns, Power Cosmic, wizards, etc)

Damaging Effects
0 Normal weapons, low-powered beams, etc
1 Strong Beams & blasts, explosives, artillery, etc
2 Capable of injuring even the toughest foes

Scope of Powers
0 Capable of effecting individuals at rifle-range or groups nearby
1 Capable of effecting individuals at line of sight, or groups at rifle range
2 Over-the horizon or wide area attacks
3 Distance is meaningless

Modifiers Cost
Surging 2/Metric
May boost to higher levels for short periods at dramatic moments
Prep-boostable 2/Metric
May boost to higher levels with sufficient prep-time.
Non-Physical 2/Metric
Intangibility, telepathy, magic, iron will, etc Capable of bypassing others durability, or resisting such effects
Unstoppable 8/Metric
Death-touches, reality-warping, god-blasts, disintegration, etc
Can be lost -1/Metric

While I appreciate you're enthusiasm and effort, the basis for this tournament is already set, and there isn't going to be any dramatic changes to the rules or set up of this tournament.

Fair enough. It was just a suggestion, and it is after all your tourney.

I will ask this though, before we start drafting please clarify in the thread some of the points that have been brought up WRT some of the more broad or vague powers and such. It's all well and good to field questions via PM, but ideally we should all be operating on a level playing field as we formulate our teams and plans.

I am assuming everyone read the the rules, regulations, and character point values which should answer almost all questions. If there is a part you are not clear about, be specific, bring up an example if you can, and ask.

Once the drafts begin, You will be able to piece together your opponents strategy as they are forced to reveal their hand both in the draft threads and in the tournament discussion threads.

Once the sign-ups close and the tournament discussion thread is opened, all future questions regarding character point values and costs should posted there for all to see.

Announcement
Tournament Sign-Ups End Today 11:59 PM CST

Also, while I am not opposed to using wikipedia links, if the page or link doesn't give enough information on the character for me and your competitors to see and understand about the character, you will have to find another or choose a different character.

Some good websites for links are:

-Good List of the More Well-known Characters in Marvel and DC
http://www.classicmarvel.com/cast_list/all.htm

-List and Bios of Every Single Marvel Character EVER

-Marvel Dictionary for over 700 characters

-DC bios and links for all DC characters

You are not limited to just the above. I am just providing these above as examples. Remember if you choose a character you need a bio (or scans) that can show what the character is capable of for everyone to see.

Do you two have some sort of rivalry?

Papa Smurf is a moron who I have sparred with several times. And is increasingly becoming discredited on the forum.

since you see fit to call me coward, Stacks, I call you such for not entering Red's tournament.

So I take it you aren't going to sign up in this tourney where the b-grade debators went that has such a easily exploitable by yourself system?

I personally don't really care about the CBRish/random set-up of the other one, but I guess I could have a side argument with you using that format since it means so much to you.
