Spielberg did that.

Akbar, Lucas even wrote some of the script. He was INVOLVED in this.

Oh yeah...the script. I don't have any problems with that. I was talking more along the lines of creating the movie. Like with the OT, he wrote the scripts, but I believe someone else directed the movies. Just as long as he doesn't take FULL control of the project I have hope.

He's always taken full control of the major SW efforts. I'm sure he thinks this is one too.

Then he excommunicated it from his story when it didn't turn out perfect.

He's perfecting it with the animated series.

honestly, since hes not going to be so focused on the Skywalkers, he may actually improve.

Then again, contrary to most, I like the PT better than the OT.

And, not contrary to most, I find that odd. Honestly, take out the Clones and then how do you like the PT?

I think the story is better (though not as well executed), I think the characters are deeper, and visually they're simply amazing.

Its the Space Epic to the OT's Space Opera.

A story not well executed is a story told badly. That's rather a death blow to any movie.

You're talking about Star Wars here. These are some of the crappiest films of all time.

Crappy maybe but there are a number that are not badly told. IV, V, III... even VI has some major dumb stuff, but the storyTELLING isn't that bad. It brings home the bacon on Vader's redemption and Luke's maturity, which is what the saga is all about.

The story telling is no worse in the PT, simply put, the plot is more complicated so the poor story telling shows more. All the OT plots can be summed up in two sentences which is, personally, annoying

But it's also it's strong point. If you can't properly tell a complicated story, why bother.

With that attitude Lucas should have never made Star Wars.

The OT had simple stories.

...which over idealize the story. The plot got evermore grey, which the PT just continues.

It got kinda grey in the PT. I thought the OT was simple from beginning to end, with a few ambiguous elements, but that's what elevated it above regular B-movies of old.

Vader happened to be a mojor grey element. And Star Wars is still a B-movie. ANH just did it right and kicked off the latter 5.
