Call of Duty: World at War

I'll probably end up buying this game. COD4 was too sick, and this game, although it reverted back to WW f*cking II, looks like it'll be really fun with online matches.

What's this crap I keep hearing about German zombies in this game?

Why would it be crap? I think it sounds pretty fun.

I've always been a fan of WWII games. CoD4 was wicked, so if 5 retains the same dynamic feel to the game play as 4 did, then I'll be a happy chappy. 🙂

I'm getting this game, but only for the multiplayer, got to say from watching vids and the beta, was pretty damn awesome, i won't play the campaign like i did in 4 though, probably speedrun it on the easiest difficulty to unlock Zombie Nazi attack.

I wonder how wicked World at War would've been if the Nazi zombies were to be part of the story mode instead of a mini game.

Zombies...

I thought cod was about realism. Reenactments.

I say leave all that bs to wolfenstein and keep it real with cod.

The Zombie mode is just a bonus feature....and a pretty damn good one IMO (I realise it's a gimmick), at first it was the only reason why I was going to buy COD5, since playing the beta I'm going to buy it for both the Zombie multiplayer mode and the regular multiplayer, I'll just speedrun through the campaign, i won't play the campaign like i did with COD4...but i think this Zombie mode is just an extra feature to try and keep the game popular and fresh.

Again i think it's a fun idea and i hope to see it in COD6 along with a map editor! (Also I'd rather fight Nazi Zombies then fight in a realistic WWII for the 9000th time!)

i dunno. I just think that zombies and call of duty just doesn't fit at all. (in any way) Even if it's a complementary feature. The only way i'd accept zombies in cod is if it was in part 4 and it was playable via some arcade machine.

And I thought the game would've been just as popular still without the zombies. It's been getting praises and this has been without the mention of zombies. Hell i've seen screenshots and gameplay footage and it looks great. I didn't see any zombies though.

And if you really don't wanna play realistic ww2 fsp's but ones with nazi zombies stay away from cod and wait for the new wolfenstein game due out in 2009.

But to each his own. If you truly wanna play this cod partly cause of the zombies; cause you're getting tired of the same 'ol same 'ol. Have at it.

Realistic WWII games have been done to death. I don't think an extra mode (that I think is hilariously entertaining) is a bad thing. If nothing else, it'll do something to help set COD5 apart from the billion other WWII shooters. Because really, the only reason this game has the hype it does is because COD4 turned out as good as it did.

I'll probably pick it up soon myself. And play with Zombie Nazis because that's just funny.

hey like i said to each his own. but are you getting it just because of that? just asking.

i might get cod5 too. but it'll be because cod is one of the best shooters out there out of the many multitudes that exist and i always had fun with it (except with pt. 3). especially in the ww2 genre. it probably tops 'em all.

I tell all my customers. "If you liked COD3 youll like this one. If you didnt, then find something else right now!"

No, I'll probably get it because I enjoyed COD4 and this one is very similar.

See, we tell people that if they liked 4 they'll like this. Because...well...COD3 wasn't that good.

I'll be buying it this weekend.

Ermm you did read the part where i said "and regular multiplayer" as well didn't you? Just to say I'm buying the game for both the zombie mode and the regular multiplayer as well!

But as Lana said, no one wants to play a realistic WWII game anymore it's just getting stale, again the zombie mode is a fun little feature to help keep it fresh, you don't have to play it either; if it's not you're style, but fact is it's there for other people and for people who want COD for it's multiplayer and not it's WWII campaign. (As about 85% do) As well as just to have some fun with friends instead of joining "hardcore" matches that fill COD's multiplayer.

It probably still would have been popular, but that popularity or at least a major portion of that comes from the success and deserving hype of 4, if 4 was not a hit then i doubt this game would have got the same exposure, in fact it would have got less so considering it fits well with the countless other WWII FPS clones.

I also believe Zombies can fit into just about anything especially since they have become the new nazi's of the world, everyones fighting them these days, i also want to bring to the attention of "cause you're getting tired of the same 'ol same 'ol. Have at it."

Which i believe sums up practically every FPS right now with a few exceptions, every FPS seems to be about either WWII or Space marines fighting Aliens...so yeah every FPS is repetative right now, (with like i said a very few exceptions) every single FPS is doing the same old thing, over and over again, doesn't make them bad though it's just that I'd like to see something different like an FPS set in modern warfare. mmm

I like realism to a certain degree games with to much realism usually get boring very quickly, case in point: GTA IV. So yeah i think the Zombie mode can only help the game and make it more ammusing for friends who just want a laugh, or people who don't feel like playing the main multiplayer, you don't have to play it, it's just there incase you want it, in all honesty i would have liked to have seen a undead Nazi FPS COD game, with a haunted trench mission, you could have called it Call of duty: Dead Assult, but as you mentionded wolfenstein's already kinda done that.

Well, the guys who made COD3 made CODWAW.... Plus its set in WW2 as well.

I don't understand how people complain about COD5 being another WW2 shooter while COD4 could be labeled as just another modern shooter.

I always think if the gameplay is great, then setting wont matter that much. The only time I hear people say that is because of a bad game.

Yeah, and they basically cloned COD4.

How so?
