"Is it getting light outside?" Rek smiled back, shrugging off a detached-body feeling. "Its ok. I'll take the watch. Carlos, the armory, anything interesting that 'I' should look at?" The storm was still darkening the dawn sky to a black-blue-purple but lightening had stopped but the rain was even heavier.
Kat nodded and sighed softly. "Yes dawn is here... And a gloomy dawn it is. I only wish that it was nicer out, that would make going a little easier." She looked back at Rek and shook her head. "No you're hurt you need to just drink plenty of water and rest for now. You're time will come when we move on."
"Weather bad still huh?" Rek propped a crate on its side and pushed against the wall with a kick. "Well I owe you because you carted me around before during the fist mission... After I got knocked out by the explosion." Rek Mirez, a Lieutenant of a dead Hazmat Force was as dead inside as the entire city surrounding them. Outwardly he was still cracking smiles and jokes. "Y'know, if you lost the Hazard suit I probably wouldnt reconise you! Your still a stunner." He looked over at the Russian who was reading 'Sun-Tzu's Proverbs of War' Or something like that, he read as he quickly translated the Russian text. "Kat when I was d-" He looked at her as he sat down beside her on the propped up box. "-lerious did I say anything to you? I just have a weird feeling that I said something..." He peered through the slit to see the --currently-- deserted street and alleyways. "Its quiet, too quiet." He whispered.
She blushed and leaned back against the wall, propping her foot on her helmate. "Thank you Rek. And I didn't mind carrying you around. Again I wasn't going to loose another team mate... And as for what you said while you were out of it 'Kat. You're a wonderful person and I hope your daughter is ok and you stay alive. Because I... love...' then you fell asleep. Other than that you were appologising."
Nikholai stood and grabbed his rifle. "Twelve hours. Time to go find him, like always." He walked over to the main door and opened it slowly, making sure that no infected were nearby. Tapping his com, he made sure that it was still working and made an attempt to contact Jacob.
"Jacob, do you read me?"
"I read you.."
"Everything ok in there?"
"No, me and Shannon are stuck with what's left of a military contingeny. We have been getting hit hard for the last three hours. The infected just keep coming no matter how many we take down."
"I am on my way."
"Tell Rek that the new signal for the coms 8.80 MHZ. Oh.. and tell Kat that I am sorry I got her daughter into th-"
"Jacob!? Jacob! Hold tight I am on my way!"
Nikolai looked back in at the others. "New frequency is 8.80 MHZ, and he is sorry he got Shannon into the bad situation." Without a further explanation, he took off towards the base.
((okay, i was off for a while and am a little confused. when i read it said kat was on watch and then she went back to sleep.))
carlos sat down next to rek. "just some m16's, a saw, and a rocket launcher." he grinned "nothing special, lots of ammo though." he changed his frequency to the new one. he replaced his helmet and tested it. after 2 seconds of static he heard radio chatter. "rek, i think we got something."
((not exactly sure what 'something' is))
Jacob was hiding behind a large part of a concrete wall that seemed to have a large hole in the center. Just as the infected approuched the gate, he pushed himself up and unloaded his weapon. He ducked back down as soon as they resumed fire, and began to blind fire on them. The familiar click of an empty clip filled his ears, and his response was to fluidly place the next in. It almost became as clock-work to him now. He and two other soldiers, who he actually knew were outside of the main base, firing on the attackers. The others were inside firing from the roof and from murder holes. "Shannon, stay inside. That's an order. I'm not going to have you hurt out here." Jacob fired a few shots before he lept over the cover and made a mad dash for the next piece of cover. The other two were follwing suit, trying to push back the oncoming onslaught of the infected. "We need to retake and secure the main gate! Move!"
we have the new com link and we can just follow the sound of gun fire.))
Shannon frowned and fired out of a Murder hole, watching Jacob and the others like a hawk and keeping infected as far away from them as she could. "I'm a soldier too ya know. Just because I'm Kat's daughter doesn't mean I can't fight too." She laughed and put another clip in. "God, they just keep coming!"
