Whats the big deal about them? I have a golden hammerburst and I don't even use it. had I known they would buy golden lancer codes for 20 bucks on -bay I would not have used mine.

Nice, I am really glad they put that part and cutscene in, I haven't seen anything like that in a game before, it's pretty intense, I have rewatched it a few times...

I didn't think it was that intense either, really.
Spoiler:
The way they approached it was a bit cliche. From the swelling music to the way Marcus tried to comfort Dom ('' She's in a better place now, you did what you had to do.''😉. It worked to show what kind of ruthless monsters the Locust are, but then, they also tortured Tai so much that a guy who was thought to be invincible killed himself out of pain.

I think that overall, the story has gotten a bit deeper than in GoW1, but it's still nothing special. I read some reviews that said the story was the first one in a videogame that moved them so much. Personally, it doesn't even compare to some of the most moving moments in videogames like for example (a cliche, I know) Aerith's death in FFVIII. Also, it's Gears of War, if I want a compelling story I'll play Half-Life 2, Grim Fandango or I'll read a book...

IMO it isn't that intense its deep though. I never thought anyone would go for that psychological issue in Dom's mind, let alone Epic of all companies.

Yeah, deep would be the better word for it, either way, I am really glad and surprised they put it in.

And to Slay, as I just put, intense wasn't the right word for it, but still to each their own I guess, I personally really liked it, it was a nice touch added in. And of course there are better storylines out there, its a shootem, chainsaw em game 😛

I think I'm the only person on the planet who honestly gave less than a shit when Aerith died.

Sargent Johnson's death was more saddening to me. 😐

And I didn't stay through the whole credits and so I thought the Chief died.. and that made me sad too.

Probably. I thought it was a sad moment when she died. That and she was one of the best characters in my party at the time...

Great game, i've been having a lot of fun with Gears 2. Why is everyone hating on this game? It is probably one of, if not the best sequel to a game i have played. The gameplay is the same with a few refinements that make it easier to play. The story answers everything the first didn't even ask and the scope is fuvking huge, epic boss battles.

Because the multiplayer sucks. It sucks, comparatively, but it sucks none-the-less.

The multiplayer doesn't make a game.
I hate when people base their whole opinions on the multiplayer aspect.
Yeah, multi is fun, but the core of the game is the single player campaign.

Yes it does.

All depends on the game GG, who would for instance rate Battlefield 2 on the singleplayer part?

Or left for dead. haermm

Alright, you got me there, depends on the game, Gears 1 and 2 however, I wouldn't base the game on their multiplayer, those are just nice additions to the game for me.

Yeah I agree about you on Gears, I never got into the multi in gears 1, just wanted to poke at you for speaking in absolutes.

Why does it suck? It may not be the greatest but it is still relatively deep. There are several game modes, numerous levels and a slew of custom options. you can even choose to have bots on your team if you can't fill a session. I'm not much of a fan for any type of multiplayer but, from what i've played, i havent experienced any crashes or slow downs.

Gears is primarily a single or two player game. This is why it annoys me when people rate the game on the multiplayer alone. For being, primarily a single or two player game. The developers have catered to the yearning for multiplayer and have delivered a competent, entertaining and smooth mulitplayer experience. It may take a while to get a multiplayer game started but finding a player to run co-op with takes only seconds and i have experienced no crashes during online co-op.

Of course it doesn't.

Just because more people prefer to play online against friends, doesn't mean that games intended to be played as a single player or story game take a back seat.

Gears is a story game, not a multiplayer game. It has multiplayer MODES. Them not being great doesn't reflect badly on the main game. Anyone with that kind of view is really quite backward. It's a fact that multiplayer is not what this game is about, and if you're buying it for that, you miss the point.

Unless a company states that their game is multiplayer and made for that purpose, it will always be just an additional mode. That's not opinion, that's fact.

It's the reason Halo is so overrated. People enjoy it with many others, great. Shame the story mode is shit.

Then, you like Halo. So if you're hating on Gears because it has inferior multiplayer to Halo, in you're opinion, then...go play that.

I know it doesn't. I knew it before you made your rant, which I ignored.

The bots are garbage, even on insane. The shotgun was nerfed enough that chainsaws are the ultimate close quarters weapon, and it takes an ungodly amount of time to match make. I've heard reports of it taking up to ten minutes to find a match on a perfect connection. Epic has even launched an investigation on it, I think.

Playing Gears on single player I did on insane in about five hours. The game doesn't really have any replay value and the story isn't the best.

Co-Op, or two player, is multiplayer, and it's a blast.
