Ah okay, that's better.

Diving in hockey has been around for years. There's a penalty for it too. It's just an easy accusation to make for opposing fans because well, it's looked down upon when you dive. (Even though the teams like those power plays).

Really its been around for years?? never realized it in the 90s i guess, i only realized it was a penalty after the lockout.

5-2 Wings

Prophecy^ Not an opinion

4-2 Penguins.

Not a prophecy, nor a foretelling from a quick glimpse into the future but rather...,more of a knowing. Prewritten from days long before.

Here's something for all you haters and misguided fans. I wrote this just for you

Slowly...,it's savored. Amongst the euphoric hysteria in the cacophonous arena. The champion grips the cold silver. As he hoists the iconic cup high above his being he glimpses the names from games past. Etched deep into the chalice of the kings he knows that soon his name will join the legends of the cup. A gesture from a fellow teammate.., celebratory champagne is poured into the trophy. As this weathered champion tilts the grail, champagne spills all over his face. His senses are overcome. He can taste something incredible..., It is the taste of victory. It is truly a glorious day for the Stanley cup has returned to the city of Pittsburgh.

I'm pretty sure it is. I think it was around in the early 90's too when I was a kid.

Yeah, basketball.

In hockey, you usually see the penalty aftermath. In basketball, a foul can easily affect the shot but there the player doesn't fall down or anything like that so you have to see if there was contact, and if the contact was warrented, or it affect the shot.

I don't know, i'm not a Ref but Hockey has it's equivalent to charging. It has, well...,charging 😂 no, but slashs, hooks and high sticks...,when all you're looking at is a cluster fuk of sticks, well that seems like it would be hard to call to me when the sticks are moving at high speeds.

Nah, it's completely different.

Hooking is a easy thing to see. The guy can't skate anywhere. It's simple to call. High sticks are even easier. Slashes are simple too. Look for the broken stick, or a dropped stick.

Charging in basketball is tough. The ref has to figure out if the guy is completely set before the other guy goes into him. But when is he set? Before the guy jumps, or before the guy goes in motion towards the net. It's tough.

but yeah thats what i meant
refs hate Sid and Gino

😆 that sounds awesome. You know, i still haven't gotten a grill yet, this year? My neighbors usually blow the game up on their outside wall with a projector and have a party. I'm thinking that next year, if i don't go in on a season ticket package with my friend. I'm gonna have to something spectacular for hockey nights...,hmmm, it has to be epic though.

I really don't how you say Hockey is an easy thing to see. The way you describe the penalties seem a bit silly to me. Hooking is one of the hardest penalties to spot because it's constantly going on through out the game. Players are always finding their moments when the refs aren't looking. Hooking isn't simply an act that inhibits a player from progressing. It's act used very often, inconspicuously, to instigate a penalty. The play moves so fast, the players are passing by one another through the entire game. What looks like a hooking call could very easily be nothing at all, like a poke check, and vice-versa.

The same goes for high sticking. Unlike most other primetime American sports, a players intent is often taken into consideration. There are times when a stick goes wild from a body collision.

Slashing is another one of those motions that players use very often to instigate penalties. Players always take and give slashes around the goal crease but it's rarely called because there is so goddamn much pandemonium going on around the net. That is one of the reasons that the NHL implemented that Skate in the crease rule.

There is also the interference penalty to worry about.

The Refs also have to decide what the severity of the penalty is. In a game that moves so fast. One of the Bi-products of the game is players falling down. Refs have to distinguish whether or not a player was seriously penalized, took a dive or just fell down from a clean open ice hit. Oh and then there is boarding.

I definitely get what you're saying about the charging penalty in Basketball. I know that that has been the focus of many discussions surrounding the sport, for sometime now. That is one thing that the NBA has over the NHL for me. There are no booth reviews. Although, i think the booth review has actually become apart of Hockey. It's very rare that a play is called the wrong way. So, i can see why it would be harder to call a b-ball game because coaches can't challenge the refs calls on every charging penalty.

Hooking is easy to spot. The difference is refs don't always call it. They let it slide, but when you have a stick around a guys body, its hooking. It's pretty easy to spot. I see it all the time.

High sticking. Same thing with hooking, if the stick hits a player near the head, no matter what made it go there, its a penalty. A player is responsible for his stick goes. They generally call it all the time.

Slashing is easy to spot for a penalty. A guy hacks away at the player and the stick breaks in half. That will be called every time. That's when it's usually called.

I'm saying it's hard to distinguish fouls and such in basketball because there isn't really any evidence to suggest it's a foul outside of the typical ones while there is usually by products of a penalty in hockey.

slashing can also be called if the slashers stick comes down on the other players hands
it happened to Malkin[someone slashed his hands] a few months back and they called it for slashing

the radios like 10 seconds ahead of the tv haermm

Yep, that's true. There is other reasons to call it too.

I remember Lemieux getting slashed in the wrists during the playoffs one year, which broke them.

**** year, Crosby.

Nah, just kidding, I watched about 6 minutes of NHL this year, and it all came in this game.
