Congrats to the Pens! Wow, what a finish. Fleury's last-second launches were nearly as exciting as when he nudged Holmstrom at the goalie crease and Holmstrom looked like he just got tasered by the Detroit PD.
Congrats to Hossa, too. Great job. Hey, I hear the Blackhawks are up and coming and looking to finish 2nd in the Cup Finals next year. Maybe they have a spot for ya.
I was looking back through this thread and holy sh!t, I forgot it was "over" on June 9th! Did anyone show that to Maxime Talbot?
But man, what a team effort. Great job by Malkin and Talbot and Fleury in Game 7. Now time to find a T-shirt.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get one of those shirts that the pens wore during the playoffs? The one's with the punisher skull on the sleeve. I heard they were player exclusive but there has to be some place to purchase them.
Yeah, i think the only way to get one of those bad boys is to get it custom made lmao. I've checked everywhere online. Good call, AC/DC about checking around Pittsburgh. I guess i'll go down to the strip and ask around. This sucks man. I mean, i know websites where you can get official, on the ice, Nhl Jerseys for $40 but i can't find this bastard 😂 Thanks for the idea.
While I was getting ready for work this morning I watched the NHL Network's re-broadcast of Game 6 of the 2008 Finals. You know, the one where Detroit won the cup at Mellon Arena.
When it was over, I noticed the polite applause and respect that the Pens fans showed for the Cup and the winning team. I couldn't help but think that I haven't seen that kind of sportsmanship (or any for that matter) at the end of a Finals series since......2008.
Wings fans acted like the bratty kid in day care who thinks he's the only one who gets to play with the toys. And lo and behold, when someone else tries to play with them, Kid Brat pitches a temper tantrum.
thats one of the main charactersitics of people in the Pittsburgh area [of course there are some exceptions]
for the most part we dont complain or whine when we lose
everytime we would go for away games in band, we were always complemented on how much of a class act we were and how well we took all the losses the football team drug in
and it isnt just the band, everyone's like that
we just view it pointless to cry over spilled milk[so to speak]
Of course there are always exceptions, but the biggest difference between Pittsburgh fans and other fans is that when their team loses, Pittsburgh fans will blame and criticize their own team. But when other teams lose, it's always someone else's fault.
Brose a Steelers or Pens message board after a loss, and most of the fans really lay into their own players and the mistakes, game planning, and execution.
I've read about 100 or so posts in the Detroit forums, and only 1 criticized the Wings.
I wouldn't say all of it. I think the booing was 1/3 Bettman, 1/3 Crosby, and 1/3 sour grapes. I also don't recall Bettman skating around with the Cup to a house of boos.
Also as a FYI from the re-broadcast this morning, I noticed that in 2008, no one in Mellon Arena booed Bettman. Or anything, for that matter.

Yeah, you're kind of right but we also show love and respect. It's just like the great knight said, Pittsburgh is a family atmosphere. If Malkin or Big Ben misses a few passes we may point it out but we'll quickly follow up with an acknowledgment of their skill. See, you have to weed out the rift raft. There are two types of Pittsburgh fans. The Bandwagoners and the oldschool tailgaters. The oldschool tailgaters show nothin but love and respect because in the end all we're looking for is to have a good time believing in something. So, if you go to a Sporting event in Pittsburgh with someone from Pittsburgh and the team loses. If that person says on the way out...,"it would have been a good time if they won". That person is clearly not a fan. He is a bandwagoner. You need to avoid these people at all costs because not only do they take all of the fun out of sports but they also suck the energy out of life 😂

QFT man...You can't BELIEVE the amount of bandwagoners here in SanJose..only because they were leading the NHL. If the Sharks were playing like the Islanders, I'd be the only one sporting Sharks clothing...It's so FRUSTRATING! All these pretenders and fakes who cannot live out their own life...they sure suck the energy out of MY life. What's sad is, I wanted to buy a Pens sweater, but then people would think I'M a bandwagoner -_-..plus it costs a lot 😛

You can show love and respect while praising the good and criticizing the bad. Kind of a weird analogy, but it's like parenting. You put so much effort and energy into something, it's practically your world. Sure, it's very disappointing when things don't go right...but it makes the successes all the better. But yeah, bottom line is it's all about a good time believing in something. Pittsburgh fans just want it a little bit more.
My original point was that when things go good, we take all the credit. But when things go bad, we also take the blame. I would compare it to Bronco fans, except unlike Bronco fans, Steeler fans actually know that other teams exist besides their own.
