that scan shows Thor throwing Mjolnir at a Surfer who is not moving at all. Surfer than easily outmaneuvers Mjolnir.how does that show Thor is fast again?
First scan
Surfer going all out flying at high speeds and such blasting shit. Thor easily maneuvers Mjolnir around reacting and absorbing the surfers blast.
(Note Surfer is much faster than Superman.)

huh, are we looking at the same scans? I don't see Surfer blasting at all.

answer: it can't, hence it misses Surfer.
However it came damn near close hence the reason for Surfers shock, and being damn near close to Surfers speed is a feat all in it's own. Especially considering Surfer is one of the fastest beings in comics, being able to move and maneuver much faster than Superman has displayed. Meaning that If Thor's fast enough to dish it out with an all out Surfer without much problem then he can do the same with a much slower Superman.

Just because you didn't see it, doesn't mean he wasn't. I guess that was the writer displaying Surfers speed, and it also shows you surfer blasting on the previous page.
But yea, if you read the scan Surfer says that he's blasting and Thor's absorbing it.

the scan says Mjolnir was absorbing Surfer's blasts : as in like a magnet sucks metal objects toward it. so i have no idea why you think that is a indication of speed, THor isn't even moving, he's just holding Mjolnir to suck power.

Has Thor ever taken flight w/o first spinning Mjolner? Whenever I think of Thor about to fly, I see him twirling that hammer first. Perhaps it gives him the most powerful take-off.
Superman, OTOH, can float as easily as he stands, or zoom off into space on split-second notice.
Yes: Thor's energy powers far exceed Superman's in versatility and (leaving aside, for the moment, who can unleash more energy) would in time prove significant in Thor's victory. But again, Thor usually incants first, or even if he just has to point Mjolner, that's still not gonna be as fast as Superman pointing his eyeballs...in fact, if he's looking at Thor, he's already locked in for firing.

Never mind...
You just don't get that while Surfer was speeding around and blasting, Thor was moving fast enough to react and counter.
Tell me, if he was so slow how would he be able to register that Surfer was moving so fast and blasting all the while?

Thor's flying alright here, and it also displays him reacting to a speeding Surfer.
